the dash doctor in coburg did a great job on my celica dashboard i did however struggle to get it back in using the same factory holes, as it had set in a very slightly different shape..which is pretty common i had to elongate one of the holes to get it to all sit back down properly

Start planning ahead folks.. September's meeting will be held at Autobarn Epping again, starting from 6.00pm Meguiars will be doing a presentation, and there will be discounts on the night across the store for every one who attends, so feel free to bring your mates and family. There will also be a sausage sizzle on the night. Date is 13th September.

Clearly I failed on getting every single attendee's transport in there.. I missed Kate's lovely Lexus... though I did get one of her awesome brownies (say thanks from me!)... I missed the 929/Lexus combo... and the two wheeler too it seems. Sorry to any one else I missed! :) -
Great to meet you guys! Thanks for coming.. really looking forward to seeing this machine in the flesh :)

Holy Schamoly... 60 cars or so...magic weather for it too! Great variety of cars again too. Thanks every one for coming. Here is some pics of a few of my favourites today.... More here: https://picasaweb.google.com/adamlaws1974/CarsCoffeeDonutsAugust2011?authuser=0&feat=directlink If you want your car removed or plates obscured please PM me and I will do it as soon as I can. -
and further to the above comment.. when you raise your concern with their customer service people, expressing your dismay at having to buy another part and sell the one you bought on ebay all because of a poorly written catalogue that ignores variations within models, they in part respond with this: "We do plenty of advertising and at our best selling ever worldwide so we should do ok either way." Good luck with that approach folks. It's certainly made me change my opinion of what I thought was a good aussie company. Sorry for the thread hijack, I am just a pissed off customer right now :D

Recent experience with Whiteline catalogues shows they are not always accurate too... different type of car... same reason.

Looks like fun... most of us would kill for a Mrs that actively encourages motor sport you lucky bugger!

Looks awesome. What are the headlights you have used?

You guys might be interested in this http://www.my105.com/ListingDetails/tabid/65/p/1/k/corolla/id/5212/Default.aspx ex-john Pollard sports sedan.. i did a google image search and it showed me a picture from the 70's of what might be the same car. Running a 4age now, so its stepped away from its original spec, but i imagine it would be a great thing to own!

Someone was having fun with the Ke70 in the last few days... all seats laid right back...a wheel propped up inside each guard... someone must have got a "mad" photo :)
-
And a couple of badly scanned photos purchased from Phillip Island Photography on the weekend (the bad scanning is my fault, not his!)

Just a reminder that this on tomorrow night KYB are doing a presentation which should be good. I won't be able to make it due to other commitments, so have fun :)

Phillip Island 6 hour has been run and won... not by us! DeTomato was awesome again. Rained pretty heavy for Saturday practice and I think I may well have had the most fun ever on a race track. Had a bit of a spin, as did many others, but it was heaps of fun and I got out grinning like a lunatic. Sunday race theoretically you are running at nine tenths as you are trying to hit your nominated time, rather than your fastest time. However, I nominated a 2.10 ... but ended up doing a fastest of 2.08.8626 - faster than the Charade had been before and did it quite easily. There is still heaps of time in my driving in Turn 1, 2, 4, 5, and the last turn... and hell probably the whole circuit... though I am flat from Siberia through to MG.. so I dunno how I can go any faster there!! Still got about a second to go before I catch the Corolla's lap time...but I reckon its going pretty damned good for a road registered car that is still carrying all its carpet and seats and is running monroe gt gas shocks! Improvements to the car over last year were the Project Mu brake pads, which proved to me again how much better they are than the QFM pads I had in it last year... the king low springs (std height kings last year)... and the sparco seat. There is a a rotational noise in the left rear I noticed on the way home, which might be a bearing or a dodgy old tyre, so will have to investigate that. I am thinking I might try and finally get the Koni's and some camber bolts into it before the Winton 6 hour.. but we will see. Video from Saturday practice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-IlSXesIZ8

Very nice :)

White KE70 is still there. Would be great pickings for someone wanting a flat front - the bar and all the panels were in remarkably good shape. Blue interior was pretty good too. Would steam clean up nice. Picture attached. Not much else there other than a few of the old regular ke30/55's and the rt40. There is an AE93 with a 4age in it that looks like its had a bit of a picking at, but is still basically whole.

18rg's pop up regularly on ebay and the toymods forum, so keep an eye out there. They are a great old school engine. Most need a rebuild, so expect to need around $2500 to do the job properly, especially if you are going bigger pistons. Assuming the engine in your RA40 is an 18RC, its a piece of piss to do. Pull engine out. Install engine. Extend a wire or two, get the radiator hoses and fuel lines running in the right spot and off you go. Biggest challenge will be getting the throttle linked up - www.rmcarburetors.net sells a cable kit that works well. For brakes, I would use the commonly used Xt130/rt132 corona twin pot brake caliper/strut upgrade. Suspension.. king springs.. kyb shocks.. do all the bushes in the front and rear end.. and make sure the steering parts are all sound, and she will be a great machine.

Scotts old auto rubber do the windscreen rubbers and are good quality

Phillip Island 6 Hour this weekend... relay regularity event where there are 6 cars in the team, each car doing an hours stint. Its a great event and I am really looking forward to it. Charade is just about ready.. I should probably give it an oil change... and I need to replace a missing power steering pump bolt - me thinks someone didn't tighten it up properly last event when he adjusted the belt before rob roy....dickhead! If any one is looking for something to do on Sunday come and pay us a visit, we could do with some assistance on the timing wall.

If I recall correctly.. the outer diameter of the ke strut housing is 48mm... the outer diameter of the xt130 strut is 51mm So they take a different sleeve kit. And has been explained, the xt130 is a better choice as it opens up your options for inserts, as well as upgrading the brakes relatively cheaply.
