  1. Good call on that one. Found a place near me that sells felxible hose that you apparently bend to the shape. Never knew it existed. Always learning something on here.
  2. Went to repco and tried pretty much everything in store... no luck.
  3. Hey, Bottom hose on radiator got too close to the alternator and was cut. Need a new one now but don't know what hose to get. 2tg engine with a standard ke30 radiator. I have the hose that was on there but have no idea what it came out of. Hopefully someone can help me. Got pics below of where the hose needs to go and what was on there before.
  4. what he means is that it's too big and therefore will go like shot. Do a search of the FAQ or forum for suitable carbs
  5. Beat me to it. Heard about this at work. Have you posted this up at toymods? Pity my car has had too much done to it cause otherwise it is certainly clean enough.
  6. search for a hydraulic clutch post by kangaroosa. Did mine like that and worked perfect
  7. mostly grandma style driving but occasionaly the intake noise gets the better of me and its gets a fair amount of 'right clog' as you put it.
  8. hey guys, Hoping for a bit of help here. I recently put a 2tg into my rolla and of course expected the fuel economy to be worse than the 5k that was in there. Not this much worse though. Getting 16.5l per 100km under fairly normal driving conditions. Engine has mild cams and head work as far as I know and is running twin weber 40s with 32mm chokes. It was running rich and had machined out 34mm chokes and jets to suit then I got it rejetted with the 32mm chokes but it hasn't made a significant difference. So all you 2tg owners what sort of economy are you getting? And what carbs are you running?
  9. You are a smart ass :) Its more a case of me just not wanting to get cold and wet... plus I am assuming there wont be as much of a turn out if weather is bad anyway???
  10. I will be there in 2tg ke30 provided the weather improves. Not looking good so far.
  11. I liken that car to cross dressing, I don't understand why you would do it but if it makes you feel good who am I to judge.
  12. Just make sure his fully hektik commodore is parked well away at all stops and for photos :lolcry:
  13. 1) Soyboy 2) Bowler 3) BKS. 4) OSODVS 5) 78_7kRolla 6) The overrated KE70 7) Never
  14. I and many others will point you in the direction of the faq and the search button... But because I am a nice bloke. The 32/32 in my opinion is perfect. Had one on my 5k and it delivered more power and better fuel economy than the standard aisin. See what the jets are in it cause more than likely they will be okay. Very good idea to get it checked over for condition though if you can't do it yourself. A carby will always run crap if its worn.
  15. Try meridian motorsport in moorabbin. Guy there named toby has done a lot of work on the 4a in mr2s and in corollas. He is always very happy to have a chat with you. Wouldn't say he is the cheapest mind you but they get a lot of race cars going in and out of the place.
  16. Thanks for the reply. Will try get on it asap.
  17. The dizzy on my 2tg is locked. My carby guy said it would be better if it wasn't and explained all the pros of having one that allows advance through the rev range. So my question before I go out and get the dizzy repaired/replaced What are the advantages of it being locked?
  18. Hey matty, ask away about the clutch. I just followed kangaroosa's posts and it has turned out brilliantly. Bit of adjustment here and there before it was all sorted but I am very happy with the result. Well done on your car too. That engine bay looks immaculate. Gives me some ideas for my clean up cause the ignition side of things looks messy as compared to yours. About vicroads, I will get back to everyone on that. Not worried about getting it sorted though.
  19. Most dramas are now sorted. Went to exhaust shop today to get extractors connected to exhaust. Was not fun driving around just on the extractors... you know that "I'm calling the EPA" look people get on their faces Off to carby place on friday to get tuned and the timing sorted. Will need the tappets checked at some point soon cause I dunno when they were last done. Don't have the know how to do em myself. Other than that still have a few electrical gremlins and general tidying up to do. But she drives! Vid of engine running below - excuse poor phone quality and dodgy camera work due to the excitement of actually having it running. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o8eLUfUKgM
  20. Thats some nice stuff you got going on there. Properly is the only way to do it cause you only want to do certain things once. You will have to get some pics up.
  21. Going good paul, how bout you mate? Whats going into the pano? The pedal box was way easier to get back in because I had some idea of what I was doing then. Taking it out is not something I ever wanna do again though... The cross member is standard. It just goes in a different spot with a little bit of modification. I think I mention that earlier in this thread. The engine mounts I suspect are celica ones but I can't confirm that as I bought it with them on but it all fitted up perfect. Quick update Clutch is all done. Pedal box, hydraulic line and everything Electric fuel pump is mounted - need mate to come round and do the wiring for me. Tip for anyone playing around with fuel lines or pump or anything like that; empty your tank! I had to drain about 40 litres which whilst a pain in the arse was better than mucking around and getting fuel everywhere. all that is left is the fuel pump wiring and then get it to an exhaust shop to join the exhaust up to the extractors. Thanks to dave for the mates rates at costless and for being spot on with the size nut I would need!
  22. Yeah I got toymods so I will check that out. Was so hoping to avoid engineering.
  23. So vicroads doesn't seem to care that the ke30 came out with a 2t in other markets. If it wasnt an option here it does not qualify as just an amendment to your rego. All evidence points towards requiring an engineers report. Anyone else managed to get their rego papers changed to include a similar conversion? My car already had a 5k in it which was on the papers so I naively thought that going from a 1500cc 4 cyl to a 1600 4 cyl would be no problem... Feel free to pm me if you don't wanna post up here
  24. If the car is ready I will be there. Fingers crossed...
  25. Big thanks to kangaroosa for his hydraulic clutch post, made my life a lot easier. The most annoying part of the whole exercise is getting the pedal box out and then back in. I think that they never intended for you to remove it. Have the pedal box in place and just have to tighten up all those bolts they have put in to nifty little places that require you to have hands the size of a small child but with the strength of a gorilla. Next job is to mount and wire in an electric fuel pump. After that provided there are no unforseen f ups i should be done. Picture of pedal box out just to show that i had victory over the bloody thing
