  1. Hey Guys, Thought I would post this in here as some of you have seen my car in person and can give me some advice. I am looking at getting some new tyres and due to my rims (which i love) I don't have the widest selection. The tyre size I need is 205/60 13 and its rather hard to come by. Few I have found in that size are hankook (never really liked hankooks), bf goodrich, and yokohama make the y352 in that size. The yokies have an old school design and the lettering is outlined in white. Leaning towards those but dunno bout the writing in white. On the one hand I think the old school look is awesome but my car is fairly standard looking and don't know if the tyres would take away from that and make it look like a wannabe race car. Would really like something with a thin whitewall on it but can't get anything in that size. So yeah opinions please.
  2. Well done Jono. You organised a really good cruise, had a great time. Seeing all those rolla's together looked awesome. Photos are looking good too, keep em coming if you got some!
  3. As 7shades said make sure the cooling system is in good condition and has been flushed at some point.
  4. I had an aw11 with 4agze and it averaged 9-10l per 100km that was a mixture of conservative driving and mild thrashing. If you give it regular caning expect that to blow way out. Basically don't rev it and they can be very economical.
  5. my 2 cents Drum brakes are fine the only problem they have is fade. So just be a bit careful if you do any twisty roads that you use some engine braking as well and aren't throwing the anchors on all the time. Having said that a new car does brake a hell of a lot better than an old rolla, just something you have to get used to.
  6. Had an aw11 up until a month ago so I can answer that. I really liked the aw11 seats for fitting snuggly around your back. You are able to adjust the bolsters on the back to be tighter around you or looser, first time I have seen that. The legs could use a bit more padding to hold you in better but in an aw11 you are sitting in a cockpit really and can brace yourself against the tunnel. Try get your arse for a sit in one... but if you sit in an aw11 you might wanna buy one :(
  7. Cheers for the replies. Looks like it is off to big W.
  8. Hey all, I find that my front foot mats move around a bit and I don't want to be putting my feet directly on the carpet as it will wear out. So I want a way to secure my mats to a particular spot on the carpet. I would be using the tape side on my mat and then the velcro attaches to the carpet. I know I have seen velcro tape but i don't know where to get any. Anyone point me in the right direction??? repco had no idea what I was talking about... :D
  9. Count me in, provided the weather is okay... ;)
  10. Hmm well that does sound pretty straight forward. Thanks for the reply. Should be having a go at this next weekend. If its not too much of a pain I will take some pictures and depending on how my handy work turns out write a "how to" or "how not to" guide for rebuilding a weber. I figure for the price of the rebuild kit its worth having a crack at it so I atleast know how the thing works.
  11. yes the carb is recommended For fitment it is essentially the same as a 32/36 so go read the faq on that as for jetting, if its jetted for a 4k then it will give you a good base to start from...
  12. Bump. No one knows about setting the float level?
  13. Maybe an issue with low idle? Try adjusting it up a bit. I am certainly no expert though
  14. Finally got my act together and got the rebuild kit. It has come with the floats. Will these need to be set to a certain level? And if so where is it measured from? Also what sizes should the jets be for a 5k
  15. Nice looking little ke30. Well done on getting a 5k and 5 speed too. And yeah, more pics!
  16. Have to agree that rwd is the best for handling and certainly makes you more confident behind the wheel when giving it some. Having said that though I had an et pulsar with 145kw atw that was such a handfull to drive that I was never without a smile on my face. Nothing like flooring it and having the car lane change all on its own...
  17. Yeah I could go another cruise. I have no real preference but if we are throwing out ideas, maybe a drive to Yea could be good. Plenty of lunch spots and lots of twisty roads. Have done a fair few runs that way in my mr2 and on my motorbike Only problem is the number of sunday drivers but come to think of it with the way I drive my corolla I could be classified as a sunday driver myself... With any luck by august i should have a weber on the car too.
  18. Thanks for the replies. Only got the carb last night so I shall have a better look at it on the weekend. Should be fun getting it all going!
  19. Don't know if this is going to be relevant here so I will post it and you can all let me know. On the weekend I rejetted my carbs on my motorbike and they needed to be sync'ed afterwards. Thanks to the magic of the internet I was able to find a site that told me how to make a homemade manometer (to my surprise it doesn't measure manliness) that measures the vacuum between each carb. Was a bit fiddly but once you got the hang of it really easy. Also saved buying a carb sync tool. All up cost $5 to rig the thing up. Anyway I thought i would post up the link used in case anyone here running twin carbs on their cars would need to do the same thing. http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/How_do_I_sync...Carb_sync_tools I used the two bottle method. Make sure you use bottles made from glass as plastic ones just collapse under the pressure hope thats useful
  20. Managed to get myself a weber 32dgav for the price of a six pack of beer. I have read through the faq and also the forums but still have some questions. I think it was felix that recommended this carby but i can't remember seeing much about it. I have an adapter plate and air filter (thrown in free!). My questions are as follows, 1. The carb has an auto choke, does this just require me plumbing into the heater lines? and would it be easier to convert it to a manual choke... thats what the car has at the moment 2. Is the secondary on this carb vacuum operated? and if so is that a problem? 3. Where can I get a linkage kit for it If this is pretty much the same as fitting a 32/36 then i will go read the guide again
  21. Direct cut and paste from toymods. All cars are invited and by the sounds of things should be a few rollas. Classic Celica Club of Victoria Meet #18 – Sunday 1st June 2008. Time: Meeting at 9am to leave by 9.30am sharp! Date: Sunday 1st June 2008. Place: Bunnings Warehouse Car Park, Cranbourne. Melways: Map 129, Ref J 10. Welcome to the last event/cruise for the Classic Celica Club of Victoria before the winter! The cruise route will be planned and finalized this weekend – stay tuned for more updates as they come to hand! Of course as always, everyone and everyone is welcome! Celica or different, bring it along for a cruise! Cruise Route and Details! Well guys, the highly anticipated cruise route is now here! This is a long leisurely drive, plenty to take in and plenty of fun to be had! The roads are well made, traffic should be light, so it’ll make for a great cruise – just don’t go too fast or you’ll miss out on the scenic views. The point of destination is Cranbourne, Victoria. Bunnings Warehouse Car Park, Cranbourne. Melways: Map 129, Ref J 10 is where we’ll be leaving from at 9.30am the morning of Sunday 1st July 2008. Be there by 9am to have a chat, toilet stop, fuel fill-up, or whatever you need to do. There will be a “pre-meet meet” at Patterson Reserve in Hawthorn at 8am (to leave by 8.15am) for all the members on that side of town to cruise to Cranbourne together. There is a big car-park along Auburn Road, with plenty of on-street parking. We won’t be too far away, you won’t miss us! This can be found at Map 59, Reference E 4 in your Melways. Be assured we’ll be leaving here at 8.15am, so don’t be late! The cruise is only fairly short in comparison to come of the cruises of yesteryear, but it’ll still provide for a great day out! From Cranbourne it’s about 100km in length and should take us about 1 ¼ hours to reach our destination in Phillip Island. Here we’ll stop for a break, lunch, photo shoot and a chat. There is also an event going on at Phillip Island - PIARC (Phillip Island Automotive Racing Club) are holding a Group 5 Sprint Session. For those interested, it could provide to be a bit of fun! This is only an idea at this stage, but it does sound good. We’ll be crusing through Junction Village, Monomeith, Lang Lang, Grantville, Bass and San Remo on our way there. A suitable “rest-stop” will be selected from those. An outline of the day is as follows. For those coming to Hawthorn, we’ll see you there at 8am! We’ll be leaving to get to Cranbourne at 8.15am for a 9am arrival. From here, we’ll meet up with the rest of the crew and leave from Cranbourne at an estimated 9.30am. From here, we’ll cruise to Phillip Island. We’ll have a break half-way and we should arrive at Phillip Island with any luck by 11.30am. From here, with a photo shoot, chat and lunch should take us to 1pm. Depending on weather and interest; we could make our way to the Race Circuit to check out the goings on there. I’d anticipate we’d leave the Island at 3pm to be back in Cranbourne by 4pm.
  22. That might belong to a mate of mine... if so its being used as a parts vehicle for a 4agze engine swap.
  23. I can't tell you about all of the differences as I am a new ke30 2 door owner... but the doors are obviously different lengths to the 4 door. So different door cards as well I would think. Feel free to correct me if i am wrong. I was told that doors from one of the wagons fit
  24. Toyo t1r are a great tyre in any size, especially if doing some track work. They will wear pretty quickly though. If you want more of a compromise go the proxes. Last time I priced t1r's it was for my mr2 and that was $225 a tyre for 205/40s 16" but I have heard of guys getting them for $180 when shopping around so in the sizes your looking at shouldn't be too pricey. Having said all that everyone has a different opinion on tyres... in the end the only way is to try them
  25. I am not sure if the dealer changes the pin when they receive the car or not but when they come from toyota they all have a pretty basic pin like 000 or 111, but seeings how it is your last shot you would probably want to be pretty sure about it. Gotta be someone on here who works for a toyota dealer...
