Actually, does anyone have any idea how they do that??? is it like a special pen or something??? reminds me of that white shoe stuff... i used to have some of that laying around. shifted house since, so could be anywhere... Would we get into trouble with the boys in blue for "obstructing our vision"??? lol

Maybe write online names on the window race style!!!

NO FAIR!!! why does my Oz spec 79' get stuck with rectangle lights??? i LOVE quads! oh well... time for a conversion!!! Well, at least i got the chrome bars over here. Someone is selling some on here for $250... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=18689 sexy or what!?! They'd give it a bit of pimp if you got some chrome over-riders too... anyways, likewise i'm looking forward to seeing how you go with this baby. My girl was hoping we'd score a 4 door, but I'm stuck with two... eh eh eh. lucky me. what have you got in mind for this beauty?

Is all good, as If i can't work out where i can get a LSD centre from cheaply, I'm going for a cut down 'Lux with 4.11's Gotta love wreckers!!! Hope that'll have somewhere to mount a nice big thick length of steel... then just gotta work out where to attach to the chassis... oh well, that's half the fun isn't it?

Cheers for the comments. Rims are going to be at the end of the lines mod wise. It's winter here, and I want to get the body straightened before the rust gets any worse, and I've found a 3TGTEU in pieces that I am saving for, which is painful, considering today i saw an import celica with one, and the W series box for the same price!!! oh well, i guess that's what happens when you're poor. lol How do the cut springs go? I've to soooo much body roll in her, i'd be scared to give them the chop... by the way, does anyone know the standard spring rate for these??? I kinda want to get some springs and dampers that i can change in and out without too much hassle... Plan is to have one set for slip and another set for grip... i'll be running the 15's for slip, with a lot of pressure in the rears, and i'm keeping the 13's that are on it now, as I know where to pick up some drag slicks for them... hehehe. I've got to finish reading your thread there Canadian... you got a nice ride there. My brother has a muffler i am going to get back off him at some stage... 3" inlet, 6" barrel, 5" tip!!! turbo would sound so sweet through it.

Awww Chris, you just a big ol' cuddly bear... MWAHAHAHAHA!!! now how gay did THAT sound??? lol see you all there.

YAY!!! SEE YA THERE!!!

I'm going to have to join the ranks here... Why would anyone want to??? I guess we all have our reasons for defying logic, so i won't give you a hard time there. The cool thing about your situation right now is, you have an idea... a little crazy, but still... an idea that most others have bagged!!! Now you got a few choices, you can either; a) Follow the advise of those older and wiser, and put a bit of money into your 4A (which by the way, there are some of us out here that just dream of having one of these between the struts of our rides...) and get a decent amount of power for whatever fun you desire, b) Kick the trends, go with the old smoker and try to 'prove us wrong' by spending more on it than it's worth, having long nights stressing over how you can get it legal (specially in Cali... OMG i thought we had a hard time with emissions!!!) and grow a few hundred grey hairs for little more than a hurt pride when you realise what a wasted exercise it's been, or c) Take the engine transplant path, but chase down something that will either give you a) instant power gains, or b) much more development potential... Thing is, I usually go with either option b or c in this one... provided you take some perverse pleasure in learning things the hard way like i do, it should be fun. And yeah, if you do, record it, so noobs that follow can have a little easier time exploring these choices... Good luck either way!

If it's not still on, Well, I'll be going for a lonesome drive at about 1pm... should anyone care to join me, i'll stop in at Hamburger Hill, next to the train line at Burswood and hang there until no later than 1:30... As far as i have heard outside the forums, it has been unofficially cancelled... if anyone knows different, let the rest of us know please. :rocknroll:

Hey all, After deciding to get stuck into rebuilding Sherridan, the KE20, I went looking for an engine to freshen up. I found a 4K from a liteace in the Quokka and went to have a look... turns out the guy selling had a 1989 T-18 for sale too... seeing as my budget was fairly limited, i didn't bother asking the price he was after. From what i remembered, getting one cheap with as many parts as he had just wasn't a possibility. Anyways, after deciding that the 4K had too much water in the block, we were about to bid him 'farewell, but no thanks' when my girlfriend, Jo, recommended asking what he wanted for the TE... Turns out $600 is good for a car with 5 months licence, spare running 3T engine, T50 gearbox, doors, glass, bumpers, aprons, hatch, ummm... yeah, and lots more! well, I handed over the folding and took possession of the beast, then had to do three trips to get all the parts home!!! anyways, here's the PLAN!!! Rebuilt and forged pistoned 3TGTEU (Provided i can find one...) T3 Turbo pushing no less than 15psi and no more than 20. new clutch Rust repaired (brothers that can weld rule!!!) Custom twin exhaust (just for kicks...) 15" V-tech rims with 195/50 rubber. (ends up with smaller rolling diameter than the 13's that are there now!!!) Lower and stiffer springs front and rear Girlfriend will choose paint... current votes are for either charcoal or a nice deep green... super san intercooler hidden behind custom front apron NEONS!!! (what? i have a set laying around doing nothing!!!) Autotechnica adjustable bucket seats in grey Custom dash+tacho Rear seat removed and flat bed built in with tool kit where seat was. (thinking about keeping one seat in there for those emergencies when i need to carry an extra body legally...) Anyways, enough of that... here are a few pics of her as she is now...

I got spares!!! not nearly as straight as the ones that are on it, but still, not too bad. Todd, pm me and can have a look!

hmmm... that's sad... was really hoping there was some sort of 'scene' for the rolla freaks. I remember growing up away from the city, everyone used to carry on about how cool "rollaboyz" were, and how solid the scene was here in Perth. I don't know what happened, or if it was just talked up for the sake of us country bumpkins, but I hoped that there would be some remenant of that culture. Well, I'LL be there, so would be great if a few more could come down so i don't look like a total freak all on my own. hehe I have been told there are a number of other clubs cruising in similar locations on that very day, so would be great to have a corolla contingent on the street.

It is truly inspiring to see people such as yourself pushing the realms of sanity! What sort of work will be needed, chassis wise, to stop that hunk of metal making the car look like a wringed out towel? Really looking forward to seeing your 2JZ beast running in a straight line.

Is this still on or has people lost motivation???

3t Gasket, Ring And Bearings...
white_sandshoe replied to white_sandshoe's topic in Automotive Discussion
OMG go to MALZ!!! I went to malz in Cannington and they got me a price on a full gasket set that was $20 dollars cheaper than supercheap could do for just a head gasket. $145 full gasket set, $100 main bearings, $79 rings, $59 conrod bearings... I know where i am getting parts from here on in. Not going to get them yet though... got it into my head i might be better off hunting down a 3TGTEU... Thanks for everyone's help! -
mmmkay then. no objections Chris? I haven't seen Chris' one but here are a few pics of mine... not in the best condition, but the sills are the straightest i have seen in a long time, so I'm thinking it's a good base to start from. the rust that is there is pretty bad, but there aren't too many patches, so a TIG welder, my brother and a bottle of tequila should get them fixed reasonably well. Hope i loaded the pics on right... haven't done it before, so yeah... if they don't work, blame it on the noob... Pretty keen to track down a 3TGTEU for her. (hint hint to anyone who knows where i might find one...) otherwise i've got the spare engine to play around with.
-
Also really keen here... might be an idea to post pro's and con's here as opposed to PM... would be interested to pick apart the cons and see what ideas or solutions we could all come up with...

It's a T-18... looks like it shoulda been a two door wagonbut the back is leant back into a hatch... not so far it'd pass for an AE86 though... pity... From the little i know about these, I think it looks a fair bit 'KE on the front. i'll load a pic tomorrow as I'm swapping some suspension parts to tighten it up a little, and will break the camera out then. I scored it a week before it made it to the quokka. Went to look at a 4K out of a liteace, and ended up getting the T-18 instead. Came with a whole swag of parts too including another running 3T and T50 box and a few random panels. Actually, i'm hoping someone might want a licenced-but-limping KE20 as a swap for a 3TGTEU (dreaming, but ya never know!!!) I don't wanna hijack Chris' thread, so I might post it up in rides and projects and start anew there...

hey there cheviot rola, I've just picked up a 1979 TE72 with 3T in it. I've been digging through forums and sites looking for as much info on building these engines as possible... hope some of this helps. http://daytona.bravehost.com/t18/index.html and turbo upgrade here... http://daytona.bravehost.com/t18/turbo.html seems adapter plate is a good way to go. http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=18612 http://www.toycrazy.net/tech/3tgte.htm http://www.theracingstore.com/index.php?pa...t&Itemid=26 and check here for parts! http://www.swmotorsport.com/ result of a quick search i did on this page turned up the following... Searching for phrase"3tgte" ResultsToyota 3TGTE - Distributor Cap (Electrical)Toyota 3TGTE - Lead Set (8 plug twin cam) (Electrical)Toyota 3TGTE - Rotor (Electrical)Toyota 3TGTE - Forged Piston Set - Special to Order (Forged Pistons)Toyota 2TG/3TGTE - Bearings Main (Pistons, Rings & Bearings)Toyota 2TG/3TGTE - Bearings Main .807" wide (late) (Pistons, Rings & Bearings)Toyota 2TG/3TGTE - Bearings Main Bearing Thrusts (Pistons, Rings & Bearings)Toyota 3TGTE - Bearings Conrod (Pistons, Rings & Bearings)Toyota 3TGTE - Ring Set (Pistons, Rings & Bearings) Other than that, they seem to be fairly painful engines to find parts and info for, but it is out there... There is also some info floating about regarding putting a 3SGTE in place of the 3T, which might get you the figures you're after with more reliability and end up being easier on the wallet. I'll be watching closely here, and will fill you in on anything else i dig up. Good luck!
-
Hey! that is one awesome find Chris!!! 2T KE35, Do you think any one of those engines would be up for cheaper than it'd cost to re-build a standard 3T??? (and bold a turbo to the side...) I scored a TE72 the other week and looking at powerup options... If the cruise is still on this sunday, chat then.
-
YAY!!! cruises... gotta love that... i'll be there with bells on. Sherridan the KE20 coupe won't make it, but it'll be a good chance to stretch the legs of Tamara... my new T-18! I'm just going to go with the flow on this one, so will check up in this thread... keep posting developments!

3t Gasket, Ring And Bearings...
white_sandshoe replied to white_sandshoe's topic in Automotive Discussion
Is that Monotorque, part of ACL??? -
I've recently aquired a T-18 for a heck of a reasonable price. Came with a second running (but smokey as hell) engine that I want to re-build... Spent some time chasing up gaskets, rings and all other things associated with stripping down and re-building an engine, but all i could find was a random selection of parts needed from Repco for a total of $560 not including freight... I'm wondering if anyone knows where to get these for less??? I'm in Perth Western Australia, but will happily order internationally and wait patiently (even though that's not my strong point...) I re-built a 22R a number of years ago, and it only cost us 180 big ones... that's more the price i'd like to pay... Oh, and that was including pistons... so yeah... any ideas or contacts would be greatly appreciated
