I have a vs, I bought her 3 years ago off ebay for $1200. That was all the $$$ I had at the time, my vk was dead and needed a new ride. She has been a great car, it is still parked up the back of this place, it had been badly neglected when I got it and I have had a few small problems. Stem seals on number 6 have failed, I switch a spark plug from another cylinder every so often when it drops out. Back shockies Rear brakes and you have to belt the F****** S*** out of the dash some mornings for the fuel gauge to work. Apart from that, it is on standard suspension, running 18's, 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust and a lime green paint job. Great towing car, even pics somewhere on here in my ke70 thread of it towing stuff about. It is also a great daily runabout, just always needs little things fixing. Would I buy another? Probably not, if I were to I would want a VS 5L statesman fully optioned. One more common thing to die on any post VL commodore: Crank Angle Sensors and ignition modules.

Series 2 vk commodores had a borg warner vl style diff.

A 350 was only just small enough to run properly on my 179 (2.8L) torana, when jetted suitably it ran okay but still wouldnt idle when cold. Though I did put a 750cfm rochester quadrajet on my 253ci (4.2L) vb commodore, that thing goes wild. One day I will finish it off.

Last night I was on the singing syrup at an RSL club having a blast, I had this stunning girl hanging off me for the best part of two hours until the club shut and we somehow got seperated as everyone got kicked out when I was in the smoking area. I want to know who she was and its driving me *** nuts!

I had a burgundy auto one, it was really good at getting sideways, that was until I lost it and it went hard into the gutter on the other side of the road. The diff was hanging out the passenger side by a good 5cm and the drivers side was driven well in. Also had a bent axle. lol.

Maybe your new tyres are a lot stickier (softer rubber) than your old ones. I had this on my vk comodore when I got my P's. Woolworths actually sell a fix for this problem its called Homebrand burnout in a bottle (motor oil)

But if the rb30 is in a vl with cut springs you can get away with thainking you are the best drifter in the world.

I am currently doing this swap, so far it has been fairly straight forward, but I have a complete donor car. :jamie: I will just be cutting the cup out of the donor and mig welding it to the new car.

the motor from the old ke70 along with the manual gearbox is out after about an hr work this morning. JUst gotta pull out the skanky auto and stuffed 4k from the new car and throw it in. :bash: Once the motor is in I will jsut give it a coat of primer then maybe gloss black, or white after I get the small amount of rust welded up. Then maybe I will have a hit at getting it thru rego.

put on the flat front panels today, main problem with the flat fron conversion is mounting the headlights, I will just drill holes to suit. Also the panel between the bonnet and windscreen doesnt match the bonnet but I will try and get it out of the old car. Also took my original ke70 for its last drive ever today, tomorrow I will be pulling the motor from it, kind of sad really, it was so fun to drive.

To those reading that arent from my area. hevern motors is a 50-80's car persons wet dream, litterally hundreds of cars wedged in this yard, corollas to Chryslers to holdens to falcons, you can find just about anything in there. Then out of town a bit there is their farm which is equally as chokkers! Though parts from them come as a price, they wanted $80 for a ke20 tailshaft! Maximuspsychosis: I got into it, only thing I have found in there so far is a old AM radio from a commodore or something.

Heverns want everything for nothing, that being said though, I would have a field day in that yard of theirs. I lost the keys LOL, havent been able to get in the cabin as of yet, I will look in there when I find they key and let you know. Today we got stuck into it, front end is going to the scrapyard when I have the trailer next, I will be fitting up the flat front sometime soon. The 4k in it is the best part of f@$ked, it will start and run but knocks really hard and does not have enough power to move it. All the radiator support and under guards has been sprayed with sound deadener/under body sealant early this afternoon. after the front is done I will be starting on fitting the new power plant.

Today was the first time I had driven my commodore in about 6 months. going from a stock 4k to a 3.8l 200hp v6 made me feel like skaifey lol. My front yard looks good with the two kesevs out the front.

:y: And here we are, The thing didnt want to be a good boy and play so we had to push it on and off the trailor. Will start ripping it to bits this afternoon maybe.

And it all begins again with a fresh body, I am about to go pick up a new ke70 with much less rust. Only downsides to it are. 1. its auto (easily fixed) 2. the 4k has a big end knock. (may just use the whole driveline from the white car. 3. slanty front. (will use the front off my white car)

Cheers, I like the flat front better, so it doesnt sound too hard. Will have a hack at it when it runs out of rego. Might write up a how to.
