  4. it has started to eat out the notch in the crank pully but not enough to hinder its job. and on the inside where the bolt holds it on it has worn it out a little bit from it wobbeling around. i am so gutted and pissed off bout it seeing the motor is only 20,000kms old and the gilmers were only on for 10,000kms. i has the crank fully reconed at the cost of $650 when the motor was built also. oh well I'm just going to sell it all off and make a start on the new quad throttle 5k with sheldon(blown5k) i have just gone and brought a t to k series bellhousing for $250 and a T50 for $20 :)
  5. figured it was about time i put up an update on whats happining to my car. i have been off work for the last 3 weeks on holiday and finally got sick of how rugged the bug was looking so thought i would start to panelbeat it. i have changed the hatch at the other 1 was completly shagged due to rush so i found a 100% rust free 1 and have pulled all the dents out of it and given it a little skin of bog where it needed it. from there i thouhgt it was about time to get that bloody great dent out of the drivers side rear guard(what a mishion) i have also fully paneled the rear left hand guard and primed it ready for 1 last block down and some decent 2pac primer. i found a couple little bits of rust so send that off to get cut out and plated by a pro as i kept playing chase the hole with the welder i borrowed gggrrrrrrrr . all was going good or so i thought! untill thursday once again it was rego time , so went put that on (payday yus!!!!) and filled the tank with petrol. friday rolled around and the wifey wanted me to call out and pick up our pup from her at work as she didnt finish till 6pm. on the trip out there to see her my car started to make this funny flapping noise i had never herd before. kinda worryed bout it i had a look once i got to where i was going to find my gilmer belt was sitting funny on the crank pully.... didnt think to much of it at the time so wnet in got the dog and headed home. on way home it was starting to get louder. once home i inspected it more to find out the crank pully was flopping around like a cock in a sock. not good i though to myself. a mate came around and gave me a hand to get the pully off to find that the keyway is completly shagged. ( i am so pissed off the motor if only 20,000kms old and the gilmers have only been on for 10,000) to make it worse the crank had just had $550 spent on it getting it reconed before putting it in. so now i am at odds as to what to do. pull this motor apart and get it fixed, or sell it as is, or bite the bullet sell it and start building the new 5k with blown5k with the 20V quads its hard but i am leaning towards building the new motor. ill get some pics up at some stage of the progress on the body work. ,Brodie(reTRD)
  6. have a look on www.trademe.co.nz and that will give you a good insite as to how much k series stuff is worth over here. i got offered $6,750 for mine 3 weeks ago and i said no. but only said no as i have no interest in selling hahhaah. as for getting 1 over to you i would have no idea of what that would intail or a cost but i would say it will more than likely be more hassel/money than it is worth.

  8. oh i get ya. yea i sorted out the group buy on here and club k for them ay. they are NZ$700rrp and we got them for NZ$480 or NZ$520 including shipping for the guys in aussie that brought them. cheers fella ive not hurd an other k motor have the same rumble as my 1. yea I'm from dunedin, where you from what you drivin? the new motor is slowly coming together i am just colecting parts for it at the mo, i am desperately looking for a link ecu to run it all atm
  9. what you mean what is with it? do you mean y? they are lighter than standard 1's they look a shit load cooler there is zero belt slipage due to the belt and pullys having grouves and best of all they sound wicked
  10. i have finally edited this and put up some of the specs. i have just brought a new 5k so am on the way to sussing stuff out for the new injection build using 4age quad throttle bodys mounted on the drivers side with a loop over intake manifold. will get pics up soon of parts i have gatheres for this in the coming weeks
  11. opps i am in the process's of building myself up a 5k that is going to running quad throttle bodys mounted on the drivers side of the motor like the 4k-eu and it is going to be running a fully customiseable/tuneable ecu i am going to be taking pic in the weekend and posting them up under my project thread.

  15. i reed somewhere you can use holden 202 lifters and datsome 1200 push rods. but please don't hold me to that 100% it was a while ago i saw it. try your local genuine toyota parts dealer i no we can get them here in NZ for about $19each brand new
  16. i have had a flange gaskit lazer cut to mount the quads onto (only NZ$40 I'm happy as with that conciddering the other place i went to quoted me $250-$300 to do the same thing) i have not had much progress of late with this whole new project due to 2 lots of cancer in the family(1 in each mum and dads side) and the 2nd resulting in death just last wedenday :P. as soon as i have a little bit more done ill get some pics up for you guys to have a look at.
  17. try an auto glazing place i work for novus automotive windscreens here in new zealand and we do replacement wing mirrors all the time and we only charge $30NZ so i don't see why an suto glazing place over the ditch sould to be much more than this.
  18. i run a crank pully off a 2k on my 5k motor. it revs up a little faster but i have never had any problems with the alt or waterpump doing so. from memory the 2k 1 is 112.3mm and the 4k is 143?? i thnk
  19. haha yea trust me i would love to have myself a starlet cup car :dance:. or just the 3k-r. my thing should be reliable enough to stay a daily driver once it is done we are not going stupidly overboard but everything is going to be done propperly once i have some more bits and pieces sorted and have started to mock stuff up ill post pics in my project thread.

I'm not out for over all power. i am doing it to be different really and would love to having a wickedlly cool k motor that will pull stupid rpm ;D. the thing you got to remember is the motor is going into a kp starlet and onlys weights like 650/800kgs and anything better than the factory 2k motor is blisteringly fast haha. if i was going for over all power i would convert to 13Btas we can do so over here in NZ and have it legal on the road with out worrying bout the :) as long as it is certifyed.
  21. i have looked into this more and we are making 1 for my new 5k set up. thus far i am useing 4age silvertop 20V ITB's(43mm) they are goingto be mounted in the drivers side of the motor with a custom made 4k-eu type manifold for good tourque , with direct port injection via 100kw redtop injectors and standard fuel rail and FPR. i am getting all the manifold flanges custom lazer cut at the moment. we are making some custom tuned lengh headers (4/2/1) feeding into my excisting exorst system. we will be converting to solid lifters, not to sure on what spec cam to use at the moment but i lould like to keep the 1 i got as it is as lumpy as hell (check out my youtube vidin my profile.) ignition is going to be done via coil packs and the whole set up is going to be run via a link ecu ( as they are local to me here in NZ) all the head work is going o be custom with bigger valves and stronger valve springs. we will also be looking at giving it an over bore and try see if we can get it closer to 1600cc. fueling will be done via an external pump out of a common as hell VL commodor. that is about all i can think of for now but i will keep you all posted as to how this all pans out :P cheers, Brodie(reTRD)

  24. hey guys i am in the process' of trying to get some more numbers togeather for na other group buy. i am aiming to have the numbers togeather in a month so i can pass on how many we will be wanting so we can get pricing just before x mas. so if any1 is keen to be put down for a set please let me no via e mail ( [email protected] please but gilmer belt drive as the subject title) i will be setting a cut off date for colecting number of partys interested to be 20th december 08. so if any1 is interested in a kit please let me no before then so i can get semi confirmed numbers so that pricing will be as accurate as possable. many thanks, Brodie(reTRD) if any1 would like to see the quality of the kits please look at my project thread there is pics on there and a youtube video also.
  25. no not yet i havn't but once i get it tuned again (it keeps throughing out the timing by itself and is shitting out spark plug that only get about 100km's) it will be getting booked in for a power run on the dyno it only NZ$80 so once i get the car sorted motor wise and catch up on some bills i will be going for it. i don't expect much i think i would be happy as with bout 75hp atw but i doubt ill get it haha. thanks bud. the body is covered in little dings all over but it is expected its a few years old now lol. I'm glad you guys like it i am constantly getting young guys wanting me to swap there cars for it but not going to happin I'm not letting this 1 go. i am going to be re-doing the interior once the body work is don't also, my mates brother does it for a living so its going to be put back to original'ish ( i am going to be getting rid of the horrid tartin in the centers of the seats.)
