Good work mate, its good to see this car getting some love. For ages I used to see it sitting under a car port gathering dust near where I live. Never thought it would be revived like this!

Cool car! wheels look good too.. That photo is giving me a sore neck though. I was wondering can you see anything out that passenger side peep mirror from the drivers seat? Thinking about getting some but not sure how practical they would be. Good luck with her :lolcry:

No. They would be 4x100 because they are from a 1990 corolla... Plus wrong offset...

Exactly! If the paint was so good in the first place why did it get painted over? I bet some of that gold paint is stuffed so therefore it would be a waste of time and effort to reveal it again. Strip it completely and respray it.. Your car will thank you for it.

What about strut brace mounts? I would be keen on some of them and also the inlet manifold flanges.

yeah I would be keen. But not in this weather! Maybe when it starts getting a bit warmer we should get something happening.. Here's a some pics from the other day.. I am currently looking for some different wheels. Although I do like jellybeans I am a bit over them... Haven't decided what to go with yet though. Also decided I am sick of the hard plastic on my steering wheel so I got some leather strips and did this. I used like 4m of leather wtf and it still didnt go all the way around. feels nice though. It makes the wheel a bit thicker which is good and when your hand get sweaty it grips even more. Can also see my awesome drink holder/ compartment thingy which I got 2 of for my doors which came out of a ke30 2 door from wreckers. They looked like factory options but could have been old school aftermarket. Cheers

As for the white lines they were just stickers and were put on by a previous owner who owned a sign making business called signworks so maybe search him and ask for a quote if your in adelaide. Otherwise i would think any sticker/sign making company could do it but it could be pricey and the real venetians look better anyway.. Cheers

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like Sporting Car Club SA is the go. I must have read wrong their price per year, $45 a year is very reasonable. I will give them a call sometime soon and get the ball rolling. Look forward to having my car on historic rego :D ;)

i got no idea man but i got a fuel pump here off a 4k ke70 you can have for 5 bucks if you want, don't know if it works though haha but it should... keep up the good work on this little beauty :D

Thanks for that. I will definitely look into it. Its a pity about the lack of mods allowed, I wonder what the exceptions are and whether or not old style rims are allowed. Either way for that kind of price I would happily rock the stockies just to keep them happy. Cheers

Spotted a bunch of rollas today on my excursion to regency.. There was a real nice white ke30 with gold centre meshies out the front when I got there. Also spotted about 5 ke70s haha sorry not sure on locations etc.. Good to be back in the wags :fuzz:

Alrighty back on the road! heck yes! drives pretty sweet with the new front bearings and tie rod ends. And love having a heater! Although something needs to be done about the high front springs. aaahh well all in good time.. just stoked to have it off defect and registered. :fuzz: Went through the regency park inspection centre this time because lonsdale is fairly booked up. There is no difference anyway apart from the location.. its the same people. Both guys I had doing the inspection at lonsdale and regency owned old corollas of some sort and were very easy going and was basically a positive outcome apart from the money I had to spend .. But atleast now I have made my car safer and more enjoyable to drive. I would never have done the heater for example if I didn't have to so its all gooood. Ill get some pics up soon. It's looking pretty tidy just need get the front lowered a little because it looks stupid. Cheers

Is that all? I had reverse eyes in mine and an extra leaf and it was 290mm eyebrow height (low) 30mm doesnt seem like much but hey maybe mine were reset aswell. As for stiffening the rear I found with one extra leaf, I think it was 2nd or 3rd, it was noticeably stiffer but could have easily had another leaf without being annoying. Just have a play around with extra leaves and see what feels good for what you want

Hey, I am planning on putting my ke38 on historic rego. This means I have to be member of a 'recognised car club' of South Australia. Unfortunately I don't think rolla club is one. I have found a few which are and they range in price and are for various car types. But as far as I can see there is none for corollas or old toyotas or anything that has anything to do with my car. So far I am looking at the Sporting Car Club of SA but they are three times as expensive as other clubs I have found. Can anyone suggest a recognised club suitable for an old corolla? There must be someone here who has their car on historic rego... Cheers Chris

spotted a pretty good red ke55 coupe at lonsdale upi, most parts in good condition. Also an average ke30 and ke35. There was only one xe7x think it was an brawn ae71 but don't really know it was fair stripped anyway..

Yeah man I was dreading it too but it turned out alright.. it's only taken me a week and a couple of hundred dollars to finish the list of things to get me off defect. Today I put the leaf springs in and they must be sagged or reset or something because they are only just above 320mm they are like 325 or 330 but it is above 320 so its all good.. Heres the new bits i got. Ride height And no more sticker stripe things on the rear. I much prefer it this way actually. Now to get rid of these horrid stickers on the front windscreen! yay! Then I badly need a wheel alignment and could do with a general service and tune also... all in good time... Cheers Chris

Yeah its easy to swap engine numbers over just get the form and fill it out. Costs nothing. Edit: they will check it so definitely swap the number over. If everything else matches up you should be ok. Edit: Edit: and yeah service sa will do it for you. Then if you live in brighton book it in for the lonsdale inspection centre.. much easier to get to.

In SA it's 335mm front and 320mm rear.

umm yes they checked engine number and chassis number and I almost had a problem there because I had only just recently swapped the engine number over and it wasnt in the system yet. but luckily because I had a 1 day unregistered vehicle permit with the current engine number on it, it was ok. With the chassis number they checked to see if the chassis numbers matched the engine bay plate numbers and to see if the car had been stolen or whatever.... just clean it up as much as possible and take it through... then you will know whats up. Its not that expensive, like $150 or so for the inspection then if it doesnt pass its half price second time round.. so yeah hope this helps mate. Bought some parts today and yesterday, got 2x leaf springs $58, 2x front wheel bearings $38, 2x outer tierod ends $38 and coil spring compressors $50. I have just finished all the front end stuff (coils, bearings, tierods) so all thats left is the leaf springs and thats easy as!! :(

Quick update - Fixed rear seatbelt. Removed sticker stripes on rear windows. Replaced heater assembly (yaY I have a heater) :lolcry: The list is getting smaller ....... :hmm:

With the heater core, do you have to remove the whole heater assembly to get the core out? Like do you have to remove all the dash or is there a short cut way of getting to the core?? And let us know if you find a reasonably priced heater core.. I would be keen :) I have a good second hand one here but I don't know HOW good it is really... Anyway I am about to do this job so any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris
