  1. i always use the tripmeter for times like this i notice it slowly decline that way i know i have an issue. anyway ive checked the plugs, don't seem too bad. dwell is 50.7degrees and my timing is stuffed.. i knocked the dizzy when checking dwell =\ anyone have a timing light i can borrow?? blackwood area... not too keen to drive it without having timing set lol also I'm replacing the fuel filter once i can get down to repco lol.
  2. ooo breakfast, good idea :bash:
  3. thanks for that robert, havent actually thought of fuel filter lol. the air cleaner is clean, i checked it last week. and all my sparkies, leads, points, rotor button and dizzy cap are new approx 8000km ago. ill check the sparkies still are ok though.
  4. ive been meaning to check my dwell. havent checked it in months, and ive been to melb and back mid january.. lol not going to stuff around with the timing that much. its my daily, it just needs to putt around happily at 60, and on the occasion 80 or 90. i hate seeing places that have pulp (95) cheaper than 91, cos its always just after ive filled up and decided to go on a cruise. then again none of them are close to me so its not like id goto that much effort for it.
  5. havent noticed a fuel smell but it may be worth a look.
  6. ive been giving it 91 for about 3 months now, before that it was 95. its been above 80ks for about 20mins in the past like 2 months. that was the freeway tonight and last week lol.
  7. ok so lately (bout 2-3weeks) i have been driving my car a bit harder (no I haven't been drifting in the wet or been an idiot). basically, i live in the adelaide hills, and the rolla takes them with ease in 3rd.... at 40 -.- the roads are all limited to 60 so ive been pushing it a bit harder so i can achieve the limit of 60. sits on maybe 3500rpm. anyway my fuel usage has gone from ~200km to half tank to about 130-140km to half tank. I have a stock 4kc. anyway ive been thinking maybe because I'm revving out the gears a bit more obviously its using more fuel but would it actually make THAT much of a difference? also, i recently put in a thermo fan so my temp gauge is now sitting below the 1/4 mark by about 1mm. may the drop in average temp have much to do with the fuel usage? any ideas relating to my problem are accepted, just don't try to label me as a hoon because I'm not. thanks for any responses :(
  8. repaint the bay, itll be fine. go with a light colour so you can see where your zorst is shooting flames and when oil pisses out lol.
  9. yeah righto, makes sense. drags auto, drift manual. lol
  10. why did you go auto?? more cruisey?
  11. i have a spare rb30. my mate tried getting me to do it lol. wanna buy an rb30 for 80 bux?? lol it can be the heart of your rolla lols
  12. http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c330/whitesi/53f2cdab.jpg ok so my memory isnt that great. theyre actually different, but same style non-the-less.
  13. the shifter was approx 200mm too far back. if you can't see it it may be in an area where you need 25 posts or more to see, same with the trading section i believe. not too sure lol, i have enough posts to see the whole site
  14. the ones on the far right look good on r31 skylines  i know a guy with them on his. meshies ftw!
  15. HOT! thats looking good. i think if the sparky cover is blue, then it would be weird with blue leads. if you use the blue leads id stick with it being black. that way the blue is a secondary colour (apart from the block) and the black is the background colour on everything.
  16. looks good man. very tidy.
  17. i think he was asking about the blue one pictured there is a link to its build thread here: http://motamota.r31skylineclub.com/index.php?topic=81265.0
  18. it is registered..... as a stock rolla..... basic rundown. its got an rb30e+t manual. high mount turbo. trans tunnel was hacked, custom gearshifter made up to bring it to near stock position, new trans tunnel riveted/welded in. r31 diff, custom adj panhard rod. thats what i got off the top of my head. he towed a patrol with it, happily chugged up hills in third.
  19. I'm going to assume that by spring locker you mean a cone type lsd as cone type LSDs have springs inside which allow them to operate. i would advise against these lsds as they are very unreliable. the r31 skyline silhouette came out with a cone type lsd from factory, they tend to become open wheelers very quickly. and even after shimming 9/10 will be open wheeling after one decent burnout. i am just curious, why do you want an lsd for track and open wheeler for the streets? why not just have an lsd thats always an lsd, you do realise that lsds don't lock up all the time, only under the pressures they are designed to operate in. lsds are not illegal, many many cars have come out with them from factory so a car with an lsd should have no issues when being scrutineered.
  20. if it were me, wash, polish, fix the dent depending on size and how noticeable it is, then i'd daily it. keep services up to date and itll be fine.
  21. i was basically just going by what ive read on it. i actually have nfi about tailshafts, just ive read and heard from mates that 1pieces are meant to be stronger. but since reading what you wrote i suppose it makes more sense that 2 or even 3 piece is stronger. they wouldnt suffer as much from twisting as they are shorter lengths, which would give less reduction in output power also.
  22. only thing i can think of is a failed attempt at a catch can setup. or something along those lines.
  23. I got served :D
  24. the vn-vr shocks would be alot stiffer as theyre made for a much larger car which not only has alot more power, but is also built to carry around alot of cargo (wagon, duh :D lols) so i would think that it would be worthwhile getting some. if you want to lower it maybe get some short strokes for a vn wagz.
  25. i couldnt stand slantys but then i bought one, its growing on me, when they are lowered, they have the impression that they lok lower than what they are. and they seem more relaxed and chilled out. looking from side on or good angle gives the best impression. front on they do look a bit retarded, but i never look at my car head on lol. i approach it from side at home and back at work, i only look at it front on if i'm arse deep in the engine bay. lol. EDIT: t18 bumpers ftmfw yo! me wants. but after i has wasted my money on my other shitter and the ca18 conversion in this lol. appearances are now last on the books cos i has an engine i need to get in lol. imo quads only look good if done right, and alot of ke70s ive seen with them just look liek shit. the car has to be styled accordingly to pull off quads as it appears to clutter the front end of such an otherwise very simple and straight forward car.
