styler Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 (edited) hi guys i need help can't find info in search.i need to rebiuld my 4k engine in a couple of weeks. i was thinking of working a second 4k engine un till a friend surgested putting in a corona engine. has anyone got any surgestions. not to good electrical so wont to stay carbi. other engines will be good. spelling, grammar and write some sense first. i wouldnt recommend your friends suggestion as its probably something he thought of on the spot. it would be a lot of work for a little reward unless someones done it before and had great results with it which is a possibility but unlikely. i would recommend you look into building a tough 4k or recommended engine swaps such as the 4ag series of motors. keith Posted December 18, 2006 Author Report Posted December 18, 2006 Thanks to all that replyed to my guestion. Will look in to the 4ag engine. forgot to interduce my self. keith from penrith sydney with a ke55. Quote
love ke70 Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 keith, a 2.2 SOHC motor is going to deliver a reasonable increase in seat of the pants factor, however for the cost of all the conversion and then getting it engineered there are much better options to spend plenty of money on. have a search around, 4age will be fun with massive potential and alot of other peoples experience to go by. all depends what you want the car for... MRMOPARMAN Posted December 18, 2006 Report Posted December 18, 2006 gday, yeah basically what everyone else said, the R series engines are a bit of a boat anchor. you can't get off the shelf parts for them, they don't make much power and tend to have reliability problems. good engine conversions to look for would be the 4ag series engines, nissan CA18's, SR20s and rotors. all have been done 11tybillion times so info is a piece of piss to find, and all are able to produce more power than a corolla chassis can handle. for easy engine conversions look into the 2T-3T engines. they arent a bad engine, just a little archaic compared to the 4ag's.
