boosted_ke30 Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Hi I'm from south australia and am new to all this so sorry if I'm stuffin up your boards lol :) . i have a 2 door 1975 ke30 corolla that i have just completed a draw through turbo set up on. i have locked the distributor and set it at around 17- 18 degrees. i am using a turbo from a 12a rotary running around 5-6 psi (soon to be 8- 10 psi) and a 32/36 webber running 98 octane fuel. i have found the webber to be really rich and i have down jetted it by putting a 175 in the primarys and a 145 in the secondrys but is still really rich. i was wondering who else on here has done a draw through set up on a 4k-c and what carby and settings they used or would advise When i figure all this out soon ill put up some photos of my car and engine Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 I'd use a Stromberg off an old Saab. Good carby. Like this Quote
boosted_ke30 Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 ok thanks that looks like a good S/C set up you have there has any one used a 1 3/4 SU?? here is my engine bay ill see if the picture uploads Quote
boosted_ke30 Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 oh and also i was wondering where to run my vaccum line for my brakes as they are really crap at the moment with no vaccum line hooked up to it. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Off the pipe from my carby to my SC Quote
boosted_ke30 Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 oh ok sweet cheers!!! um nah i bought it of some old guy just out of adelaide can't remember his name but i have done it up a bit since then i will get some photos up of it asap!! Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 The carby I used would be ideal for your setup, it will tuck nicely behind the headlight with a small pod filter, then you can be fully sick and remove a headlight for drags hehe Quote
Trev Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 Hey mate did you change the seals in the turbo to run draw thru or was it already setup? Quote
boosted_ke30 Posted January 15, 2007 Author Report Posted January 15, 2007 oh yeah 4 sure lol :) i havent touched the seals as its a turbo from a 12 a rotary she already has carbon seals in it!! Quote
Trev Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 oh yeah 4 sure lol :) i havent touched the seals as its a turbo from a 12 a rotary she already has carbon seals in it!! Good stuff, didnt want it shitin on ya. Quote
pozman Posted January 15, 2007 Report Posted January 15, 2007 are roller bearing turbos ok to run fuel thru or do they have to modified aswell? Quote
Robert Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 You can run the booster vac line to the original spot as it has a check valve in it, and your manifold will supply vaccum at idle. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 That wont do him much good when he wants to stop Quote
irokin Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 That wont do him much good when he wants to stop Its not an issue as long as the check valve isn't farked. I can still step my my brakes when I'm on boost. Then again you've got a crazy big volume after the throttle body :) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Have you actually tried driving this yet?? guess so. How laggy is it? cause thats a bloody big turbo for a 4k. mines off a 2 litre wrx, but you should really consider the 12a as a 2.4lt when your interested in the turbo so i can see it be VERY laggy!!
