ke70 kid Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 g'day all, I have recently just aquired a ke70 corolla, the stock 4k motor is siezed, although apart from that the car is in very good condition.... i have always wanted to put a 4age into it, except i want one which isn't fuel injected is this would just be to much of a hassle (wiring loom etc) and i have a fairly limited budget (3k). it been very hard to come accross one which isn't fuel injected and i have had no luck yet as such. I was hoping to do a diy job on pretty much the whole thing as my dad still has his hoist, rattle gun and many other tools. BUT... my friend has recently come across a turbo from a charade which is not fuel injected, and we were wondering if would be a better option to rebuild the 4k, get a custom manifold made up, and slap the turbo on. could the 4k handle it? The other option, as advised by my dads boss, would be just to get a 7k motor out of a hiace, as it slots straight in, and simply do a bit of headwork to it, lumpy cam, port polish etc.... :jamie: If anyone could point in the right direction, as a 4age would be a dream come true, but if this is not the most economically viable option then what would be? any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, or if anyone knows of a place where i can buy a non fuel injected 4age this would also be of great help. please, please help me guys....... :wink: regards, Yani Quote
Trev Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 The 7K would be the better "bolt in" option but you could always buy a 4age and convert it to twin carbs and get yourself a T50 (probably cheaper option), A series x-members, and AE71 diff (i have missed a few small things but these are the basics) All up you should have change from 3k and a happy running 4AG. doityourself Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 (edited) Batesy_TE70 did this to his last one. 3T with TA22 engine mounts, AE71 pedal box, TE72 T50 gearbox, custom gearbox crossmember. get the cam reground and run a 32/36 down draught weber, and a 2 inch manifold back exhaust. When setup correctly it will pull nicely,they have a lot more torque than a 4/5K. Quote
