a rwd 4g63, whats that out of?

ive been thinking 12A turbo, because mod laws will only let me put in a N/A 13B and i don't know if it would be worth putting in.

another couple of "brainwaves" i had was the 2.5L Boxer Engine, although i don't know a lot about em.

or what about spoonage?

i know their quick but i don't know much about price and weight and all that.

you could probably run 12's with a well ported 13b NA'd (talking J port, monster port, peripheral port). it would be one angry noisy engine and chew heaps of juice (as much as a worked v8). it would probably have more look at me factor than any other engine you could think of.

a 12a turbo would have more potential, be way quieter, more reliable, more drivable and use less juice.

6 port 13bs put out 160hp std.

an RX3 with a 13B bridgeport with a 48IDA weber runs 13.4sec

over 250hp @ flywheel.

And again...bridgeports don't have to be doggish...its all in the port shaping. J port, moster port is getting a bit silly. Perhiperal is just stupid for a road car.

i don't think anything "came out" with 4g63 rwd, but people make them. jett racing have one in their datto ute, and i heard of somewhere up the coast that sells them in rwd config to put into street cars

porting rotaries depends on who you talk to. some experienced porters will say if you're going to bridge, just go the J, you'll get more power and they're about as driveable as one other. you can run a pp on the street, it's just not pleasant at low speed, like any ultra worked na motor really

I've heard rumours that the Starion (?) or something came out with something along the lines of a 4G63, and they were RWD. In any case, even if they did you really wouldn't want to use them because of how early a 4G63 that would have been, and how old they are now. But I suspect you'd be able to use their gearboxes etc.

Do remember as well that Mitsubishi's 4G63 engines have gone through a HUGE evolution, to the extent that virtually NOTHING is interchangeable between the Evo 4,5,6,7,8 4G63's and the earlier models (the engine was turned around). So the compatibility of these to any earlier gearboxes may be questionable.

That said, with enough money (and/or motivation) you can make any FWD engine into RWD, I know of someone who's putting a 1ZZ engine into a clubman and all he's done is shave 12mm off the bellhousing and made a 12mm adaptor plate. And I know a company down south that's just put 2 x 1ZZ clubmans on the road...

can you tell he used to drive a lancer?

1ZZ hey....thats some good power right there

How bout a 1ZZ KE70 sportivo?

lancers don't have 4g63s, evos do. if there was any danger of my car sounding like a fart droning fwd shitbox then that idea would be RIGHT OUT, instead it would sound like an evo or galant - nice :P

7a-fe is superior to 1zz-fe. you'd use a 2zz-ge if you were going to bother. and whilst they may be nice motors, f@$k they're not cheap, nor is any brand-new-model motor really. even 3Ss are still fairly expensive

1ZZ's are actually pretty cheap now, and they are lighter than a 7AFE. 2ZZ's are still pretty expensive.

The main thing that makes a *ZZ engine hard to put into RWD is the gearbox bits, but either a custom bellhousing or adaptor plate isn't *too* hard to do, but again only if you have money and/or motivation to throw into it. Also, you need the whole ign key barrel etc because of the security system on these engines. In otherwords, you probably need to buy the whole frontcut.

Nothing wrong with a Lancer, as long as it's a GSR :P

if it's awd then i'm bang up for it. to tell the truth, your old cb was pretty cool looking, and certainly had the goods in the suspension dept

because i'm lazy, does anyone know how much an L20 weighs? do people put them in 1200s and the like, or is that considered "too front heavy" like a 3T in a ke20?

i've seen an animal 1200 coupe with an L20 at the mt cotton hill climbs. it didn't seem to be at a disadvantage. it hauled, and went around corners real well.

i think moving the battery to the boot, and a diff upgrade will certainly help balance the car. also suspension setup has a big influence on how well the car handles. not to mention driver ability.

an L20 is a big lump. probably much the same sizewise and weight as a 2/3T. they would both have similar potential. L20s are a non xflow engine, the manifolds on the same side as on a K engine.

probably be easier and better to build a 3t-c or 3t-g hybrid then
