7shades Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 ^^^ That post in itself has a certain irony... and yes, stripping has 2 "P's" :S Quote
doityourself Posted May 4, 2007 Report Posted May 4, 2007 The best I can suggest to you matey is that your pull out all your interior and remove the sound deadening and the air con (if fitted). You should have a noticeable difference right there. Every 10Kgs you remove is equivalent to 1Kw of power extra, for example removing the air con might save you 25kgs is like gaining 2.5Kw. Whilst it seem hardly worth it, if you continually find things that aren't needed the weight reduction will build up. Now if you really want coil over suspension, get some decent Aussie made ones and not some bling bling ones, King Springs make coil over kits starting a $100. However there are other alternatives to making the car handle better, the use of Nolathane bushes is a good idea, upgrade the sway bars too Whiteline Suspension would be good for this. Also find some good quality shockers. Quote
styler Posted May 5, 2007 Report Posted May 5, 2007 yeah not really worth stripping out the interior, i mean its a car with low stock power and no mods at all, it could at least be comfortable and have a decent interior. interior isnt that heavy, what is worth removing for weight is passengers, spare tyre and jack, big sound systems and sound deadening. but this also reduces your comfort like its loud, theres no company and you get stranded in the middle of the night with no spare tyre. you want improvement try handling, road holding, braking and driving skills - replace dampers, bushes, springs, get a strut brace, good tyres, decent brake pads, high temp brake fluid and read up on some driving skills. anastasios Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 yea i think the police will notice you have no interior over engine mods any day of the week, keep it in you will not notice the difference, do your suspension first and if you have the budget to get d2, go s13 instead, this will improve you driving skills. mozzy Posted May 7, 2007 Report Posted May 7, 2007 seriously dude if u want my oppinion, keep ur interia in and keep ur car looking as stock as possible if u get coil overs keep it at the right height (i think its something like 360mm from the center of the hub to the arch in the gaurd) and make it look as normal as u can and make sure you get rid of as many defects as u can and just drop a 4age into it because i have one in mine and when i got defected the cops opened the bonnet and the first thing they said was where is ur cam cover and thats it i could see them looking for a turbo but thats about it, because the motor looks like its ment to be there so it don't look out of place, its an easy little coversion and they make good power, when i got defected it was only for fray in the drivers seat belt, play in the steering, tail lights to dark, wipers/washers didnt work and reverse lights wernt plugged in, i had bald tyres and they said that i should get new ones and thats it nothing about the motor i just said i brought it not long ago and i just been cleaning it up and thats it and they had no clue. so my point is that if u strip ur interea u will run the chance of a defect over nothing and its obvious that there is no seats in there, but the motor u can have a bit of a chance of them not noticing, also the engine numbers on the stock 4ac are 4axxxxxxxx and they are the same as the 4age witch is also 4axxxxxx i thought about going to motor reg and saying the old motor blew up and i brought a new one from the wreckers and give them the 4age engine numbers then it would be registered with that motor :y: i meean they shouldnt notice.... i hope my novel i just wrote was some help lol because it took me a life time to type it lol Quote
Nat-ae71 Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Okie dokie I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and say do suspension, brakes and lsd (t series rear end swap) Yes it isn't free but when you do get a tougher motor all the parts are there to cope with it Also if you want more power (I'm assuming you have a 4k here) a small cam, and upgrdaed carby/extractors/exhaust will sneak through, just because its modded doesn't mean it has to be shiny/loud. Strip the chrome off a sports filter and paint it black, paint ur extractors black, etc and noone will be the wiser, just think your car has a miss at idle, lol Quote
ae71neo Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 (edited) I don't have any rear seats, what does that make me? I also don't carry a spare, except on long trips. Any weight loss is an advantage i say... Also my car is to low to carry people in the back, so i thought f@$k it, i don't need them. Also makes transporting stuff easier. But yeah, i did my suspension and brakes etc first. Edited May 21, 2007 by ae71neo Quote
