JiP Posted May 8, 2012 Author Report Posted May 8, 2012 My partner didn't like my eggs... Was at a fancy restaurant on the weekend. Thought it was cool that the glasses were crystal, the cuttlery was silver and SOME plates were Royal Doulton. I found this one funny. It says Australian Fine China, but its made overseas... Quote

towe001 Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 Its all the same to me. An egg is an egg regardless if the chook is caged, free range or homegrown. The only difference is the price and homegrown seem to taste a little better. But their all still yuck. Quote
orangeLJ Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 I think the issue is how the chooks are treated... I must admit, I always buy free range eggs, its a little more expensive, but for the fact that the things don't spend their whole life in a footxfoot box.... I feel a little better about myself. I can't be the only one who can't hack driving past those trucks, packed full of live chickens in tiny little crates, FFS they are on their way to become tasty roast chickens.... atleast give them some space and a bit of cover, so many are already dead in the trucks from the wind/cold etc. Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 Don't fool yourself with Caged and Free Range. Everyone thinks Free Range is a lush green farm where the chickens roam the barns and go where ever they want , when they want. But of course this is not the case. Caged Free Range Big Difference hey ? Quote
7shades Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) There's a Japanese family up here that have a company/farm called 'Yamagishi Happy Eggs' (I still giggle every time) which are the only ones I buy. Nice big farm with lots of open space. Normal feed is supplemented with brown rice and grass. They're definitely bigger, and its most likely a mental thing but I reckon they taste better too... B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 So where does everyone get their Soylent Green from? Quote
7shades Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 I process my own immigrants. They're spicy. 1 Quote
clubby2084 Posted May 9, 2012 Report Posted May 9, 2012 (edited) Caged Free Range Big Difference hey ? I agree Spencer it is borderline hypocrisy regarding "free range" chooks. But there is still a fundamental difference here. The free range chooks, while overcrowded, CAN stand up and move around. A luxury caged chooks don't have. Particularly when the shove 2, 3 or even 4 chooks in a cage. Edited May 9, 2012 by clubby2084 Quote
