carbonboy Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 I think you're drinking at an establishment which attracts a different kind of patron Luke....... :lovin: haha. I think you're right, my friends house appears to have changed clientele. ;) Quote
ke70dave Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) People trying to use things other than actual cameras to take photos or videos of important/memorable things Went to a wedding on saturday, picture this. bride and groom almost at the 'I do' bit, lady in about the second row, sort of half stands up, pulls out her Ipad, and proceeds to gesture the bride and groom to look her way for a photo. A freakin Ipad. and not just an ipad, but an ipad in a fold out case, so she was holding up somethign about as big as an A3 sheet of paper, in a church, trying to take a photo, by touching the screen "Capture" "button". Proceeded to do simliar things at the reception, walking around taking various photos with her A3 sized contraption. GGYYYAARRRRR!!!!! Coulda bought a $100 camera, and take much better photos! Was on a cruise to NZ at the end of last year, and I swear every second person was using an iPad/tablet to take photos...surprised more weren't dropped off balconies or over railings since you don't have a wrist strap. B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 You guys might remember Gearhead Shirts? They sell automotive enthusiast t-shirts and merch. well their Facebook page got shut down by a bogus copyright claim from Gearhead records. If you feel like flaming Gearhead Records look them up. Support Gearhead shirts at 'Gearhead shirts got screwed Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 No, Gearhead records got screwed. You like the shirts, fine, but it doesn't mean they are exempt from Copyright and trademark legislation. If somebody started trading as my business name then I'd do the same thing. The T-Shirt company should have done some more thorough research. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) They should probably get on to all these guys then Two businesses trading different products, shit like this shouldnt matter. Their logos look nothing alike. Edited March 14, 2013 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 I know a guy who used BMW in his business name, until he got a letter from Bavaria telling him to stop. Copyright is a far reaching international pact. If your mate who makes the shirts wants to keep trading he just has to move to Ecuador as they don't follow any copyright treaties and he can't be shut down. Sounds like they just ejected him from facebook, its not like he got sued. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) Its just not cricket. We all get used to the big guys screwing over the little guys trying to make a living, when a small guy pisses on another small guy (especially an anti establishment punk music label, the irony burns) it just pisses me off. /rant. EDIT: From their Wiki: In 2013 they lead a lame ass campaign of intimidation against anyone on Facebook that had the word "Gearhead" in their title, betraying their pathetic attempt to be "punk". Most of their fan base left in disgust at that point, burning their record collections along the way. Probably got edited recently but gave me a laugh :P And the woman running that label is a hippie into new age meditation, that is so punk http://www.egcitizen.com/articles/2013/02/08/lifestyle/doc5113f7cbece14912052135.txt#.URhXtc9AHzM.facebook Edited March 14, 2013 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
