Des
Of course it can be done, Anything is possible but is it practical ? 4wd or 2wd ?
7shades
I'm going to assume its a pre-83 2wd hilux with a Y-series engine, but regardless, a 4A is not the road you wanna go down mate. Not enough torque, all custom to install. Go for an R-series from an 80's celica... ANY R motor will do.... just use the xmember from a later model 'lux and its a bolt in job. 7shades
hell... its a ladder-chassis vehicle... much easier to engineer any number of rediculous engines... 7.2litre F-series diesel anyone? :D
Jordan
3S GTE will bolt up to the Y series bell housing :D Jordan
ancullen
REALLY??? If that's true then 3S-GE and 3S-GTE RWD conversions just became a lot easier!!!

78_7kRolla
why would you want a 4agze in a lux? go the commo 3.8, or if you are skilled try retrofitting a twin cam 2.7l 4 cyl (insert engine model here). Just my 2-bob.
