After the last saga with DIY stickers I'd like to keep production controlled. I will talk to Teddy about this later. So no for the moment, just wait to hear from one of us.

..... and all credit to him for doing so.

The problem faced is that Toyota are SUPER protective of anything they feel is "their" property. If people go and make their own stickers, using, for example, logos, the name "Toyota" or "Corolla" used in connection with this board, the first stop in a tea and biccies with the Lawyers is the board owners.

Hence Irokin's reluctance to allow unofficial stickers.

And yes it does happen. I've been part of a collective arse reaming by Toyota legal previously, and have no wish to go through it again.

And stuff like this does happen alot, Twincam.org got there ass reamed for calling there 4 sale section "Trading Post" and being a major company powered by telstra or whatever they were they just did as they were asked and it is now called Parading Toast.

(thanks guys!)

so let me know either way...and if i can't...i am more than happy to buy a rollaclub sticker off u guys when the next batch is made!

Yes the answer is 'No'. Its certainly nothing personal and I'd like to be able to let you but its just too risky for us legally if we allow everyone to make their own.

I do appreciate you asking us first so I may be able to make you some of your design up gratis with the next batch. Whether its open for others to buy stickers in your design is your call.

yeah thats ok! I'm gonna buy a white one of this batch anyway, but if you could make one up of my design in the next batch that would be great! and if anyone did want one(which i doubt lol) their more than welcome!

The happy section of law that you are entering into is the Trade Practice Act 1974 (cth). sec 52 to be precise , its a very well used section, and one that companies are not afraid to use as it quite easy to get up on. there is a vast amount of case law on it ummm fun reading if you like this sort of thing is the

TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX FILM CORPORATION AND MATT GROENING PRODUCTIONS INC v. THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN BREWING CO LTD AND LION NATHAN AUSTRALIA PTY

thats the most famous case.

well thats my little legal rant

back to the fun

Well they were just begging for trouble with that if they hadn't got all legal clearances and authorisation first.

I would think the use of 'Rolla' would be slightly different, though I wouldn't encourage anyone to test it. Not worth the risk.

Of course, if Toyota wanted to have a go at RollaClub about the use of 'Rolla', we could always just tell them that we're a group of dope smokers.
