olskool Posted February 23, 2008 Author Report Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) Hey hey, so the newest news is so far that I have only purchased and installed myself a whiteline front swaybar. It has made a huge difference and the handling has literally put me on a different planet, I am absolutely loving it. I have begun making myself an oil catch can from aluminium so far so good and I am quite happy with the turnout so far. Pics soon. Edited February 23, 2008 by olskool Quote

olskool Posted April 3, 2008 Author Report Posted April 3, 2008 (edited) hey man. awesome conversion i too am thinking about doing this also but into something a little earlier. just wondering what g/box that is on page 1. W50 or something?? what pedal box will you be running? I know it is a W series box but not exactly sure what model. I found it at the tip to use just for dummy fit. I will still be using the corolla pedals, but will be converting to hydraulic clutch. The bell housing I bought came with the clutch fork on the driver side so all I have to do is custom fit the rest. I got news too guys, not heaps flash but it is another thing. I just sandblasted my brake calipers and painted them gloss black, they look much better. I also purchased a caliper overhaul kit so the brakes will be practically new when I install them into the car. Heres some pics. Sandblasted Painted Oh, and brand new braided brake lines Edited April 3, 2008 by olskool Quote
radrollaz Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Very nice , Should stop your Ke55 no problem. Quote
olskool Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 Yeh, I thought I would start with the brakes and then work back from there. Will be keeping you all updated too. Hopefully will begin my inlet plenum soon. Quote
olskool Posted April 13, 2008 Author Report Posted April 13, 2008 Hey guys a little update on the front struts. I sandblasted and painted the actual hubs and the dust covers for the discs. Hubs and dust covers sanblasted and painted. Struts completely overhauled, this includes, RA65 struts, Pedders superlow springs, new shocks and dustcovers for shocks, fully reconditioned calipers(new seals and slidersetc), brand new rotors, brand new pads, brand new braided brake lines and brand new wheel bearings. I have also finally installed the struts into my car and have discovered that my dragway rims hit the brake caliper which really sucks, so I am getting new rims all round. For the time being I am using 14inch rims which will have to do. Anyway, I ran into a few problems while I was installing them. I put them completely in and began bleeding the brakes and discovered that no matter how much I continued to bleed the brakes the pedal stayed spongy. Turns out I will be needing a larger master cylinder. Would anyone have any suggestions for an easy upgrade? My next problem with replacing the master cylinder is that when I finish this conversion I will have disc brakes all round. I was planning on purchasing a bigger master cylinder to suit the disc brakes all round. The only problem with that is that I am not sure how the drums on the rear will react then. So if anyone knows of a cheap swap, which suits bigger discs on front, drums on rear, please let me know. All problems aside here is a couple pics of the struts in my car. Quote
radrollaz Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 I'm using a Ke55 master and booster which i'd say you already have, my car stops real well and you have the same set up except ive got rear disks which i don't think make any difference in terms of bleeding or spongyness. Some times you have to bleed for ages to get all the air out especially with new bake set up. I rebuilt my booster and got a new master as i wanted it all to be new, but it wasn't cheap.I'm happy to help with any more info so if you need to call me or PM feel free to do so , as i think it could be something else rather than master cylinder size, etc. :) Quote
olskool Posted April 15, 2008 Author Report Posted April 15, 2008 I did what you said, and bled it for years (atleast it felt like). All good now, just gotta bed them in. The whole front suspension feels a heap better coz of the new shocks that are celica shocks, which I believe are a bit stiffer than corolla ones. Thanks again dude. Quote
olskool Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) Hey, its been a while since I have posted, but thats because I have been waitng on two flange. One for the exhaust manifold and one for the intake manifold. Still haven't got the intake manifold flange but I did get the exhaust one. So I began making my own custom extractors. Here is some pics. Hope you all like. I started out with the flange itself and then started tacking the pipes on. Cutting the right angles and lengths was great fun!?!?!?!?!?!?! Now they aren't finished yet. I am up to the really hard bit. I am making the 4 into 2 into 1 style so it will be making the collector/reducer that will be challenging. So I will definitely be keeping you guys updated. Edited May 8, 2008 by olskool Quote
Naife Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 what about buying pre-made collectors? their fairly cheap and easy to obtain. nice work thoe. custom fabs rock! Quote
olskool Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 what about buying pre-made collectors? their fairly cheap and easy to obtain. nice work thoe. custom fabs rock! Thanks heaps. I must agree with the custom fabs. It just feels a whole lot better when I can look back at this conversion later on when I am finished and say I made that and that and that etc. As for pre made collectors, I have to make this one offset so that it fits down in the gap to the underbody. I will have a look though and see what they got. Quote
cuzzo Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 hey buddy with your braided lines how did you get the clips back onto the lines to hold it on the bracket on the strut? Are they the stock ke30 brake line clips or aftermarket? I can't get mine to sit there. A closer pic or detail explanantion of what u have to hold it there would be tops! Quote
olskool Posted May 8, 2008 Author Report Posted May 8, 2008 First of all I got the braided lines the exact same as the stock ones that came off the Celica, not corolla. The clips and everything else are all stock items. I do recall though that I had to remove the little circlips that are attached to the braided lines at each brass join to slip through the bracket on the strut, then put the circlip back on and then I could push on the stock clip. Hope that helped. Did you buy some too. Quote
cuzzo Posted May 8, 2008 Report Posted May 8, 2008 Yeah i bought some too. Looks slightly different. They have a plastic sleave over the whole thing. Also the part which bolts to the strut can slide up and down the line. Possibly different join on yours to mine. Quote
