What Oil Is Everyone Using In Their 4k's + Lifter ?

Featured Replies

alrighty so in 500kms its service time for my ke55 (standard 4k) my driving is usually short distance with lots of stop start driving with a few long distance trips, car has 160xxx

i know these are all factors that will need to be brought into it but yeah what are you using and how do you feel about it

AND BEFORE I GET FLAMED I DID HAVE A QUICK LOOK AROUND AND SEARCH I JUST GOT NOTHING THAT COULD HELP ME

( in my gti i use 10 - 40 somehow i don't think thats a good idea in the old girl )

also on another note she has noisy lifters whats the best way to fix this ?

Hey mate,

I find that Penrite HPR 30 does the job for me, I tried using the semi synthetic Penrite HPR 15 but was too thin.

Hope this helps.

thanks reg any one else have suggestions

I'm a bit old school -used to user BP Corse Plus in the road rolla. The club car got what erver shit I cvould get cheap. Usually diesel oil as I got it for nothin

Yea, I just use whatever is on special for under $20 bucks for 5 or 6 liters.

Pretty much any cheap oil these days is of much better quality than the oils when our cars came out. For example in the ke30 owners handbook it recommends API SC, SD or SE grade oil. Even the cheapest oil you can get now is of API sg/cd grade or better.

With the lifters, just adjust them.

sweet sounds good as fo adjusting lifters how? never done it b4 as ive never owned a car with less then 20xxxkms since a rebuild

ill have a search and see what i come up with

motul sinthetic will work wonders for it

Also work wonders on making your wallet empty for no good reason. 20w50 or even 25w50 semi synthetic is all thats needed.

Exactly. What's the point of putting $45 oil into a $100 motor??

Now if you had some hipo turbo motor worth several grand, you'd go for the good stuff...

Castrol Formula RS 0 - 30 i think?

but it's not a $100 engine so the money is well spent.
