March 20, 200818 yr comment_234341 i had a 4age with extractors 2,1/4" pipe + resonator and muffler and it was right on the limit when it got tested for engineering. you could take a risk and go for the test anyway and could still pass even though its loud; as long as you are just under the limit they can't do anything. i think mine was about 92db and was passed because its an old car. your ae92 might just be old enough too. March 20, 200818 yr Author comment_234346 fair enough. i find the outside temperture seems to alter the loudness of mine from day to day. maybe if i pick a good day i'll i'll get away with it...? Report
March 20, 200818 yr comment_234347 I had the same thing happen to me, notice in the mail. I cheated my way out by putting someting restrictive between two of the exhuast flanges. Report

March 20, 200818 yr comment_234364 Droop tips actually make your exhaust louder. Not when you stuff a huge wad of steel wool up there it doesn't. :sob: Report
March 20, 200818 yr comment_234367 don't the epa dudes usually check to see if there are foreign objects in your exhaust? BUT on the upside if you put foerign objects up there you'll be +5kw :sob: Report
March 20, 200818 yr comment_234418 Carefull when you get your car tested, the tyre place that tests in ballarat doesn't test the cars right. My car was just on legal (after being tested incorrect) and they made me goto exhaust brothers to make the car quieter. It wasn't randle who epa'd you was it? Exhaust shops can put in a flange with a restrictive gasket inbetween to make the car quieter too. Report
March 22, 200818 yr comment_234634 yeah steel wool if you want a nice fire, unless you mean those stainless steel kitchen scourers, they work awesome Report
March 22, 200818 yr comment_234713 If you have a flange join somewhere, make a plate with about 5-6 holes at approx. 8mm in dia. in it. That worked on a mates skyline. It will give a little bit more back pressure but its only for the epa test. Here's a bad effort for a diagram but I think you'll get the idea LB Edited March 22, 200818 yr by webers4x48 Report
