Johno Posted July 31, 2008 Author Report Posted July 31, 2008 Ive been doing alot of thinking and not much doing ATM. Thinking about silver grill.. Thinking about lowering it.. Thinking about rolling other guard.. And the latest one.. Thinking about putting in a cheap stereo for now. I got a Pioneer 12" 1000w sub. Sealed Box with a hole in the side because i stole the plugs/wiring harness for the falcon. and a really old Kicker Amp. I would just run the Stock 4" speakers and the sub just for a laugh.. Oh i just remembered, i have a set of Pioneer 4" speakers. I could put them in. Oh and string up some 8 gauge wire off cuts i got sitting around. It would win the award for most dodgy sound system.. lol :bash: Quote
RollaBus_4agze Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 There hasn't really been any updates on the car at the moment. Haven't really done anything to it for a few weeks and money is really tight at the moment. Hope I can get some work soon and continue with this project. I am thinking about painting my front grill silver. Was going to to it today but still too cold. Just gave it a wash, cleaned my rims and gave the car a long needed vacuum and clean out. Also i am going to also paint the back peice of plastic jet black. The peice in between the tail lights. I bought a SECA badge a few months ago and i will put it on when it is painted. Oh well, its clean and ready for the cruise tomorrow... Yay! Hey champ! When I was thinking about the front end of Rolla Bus, I ended up removing the grill and taking off the Toyota badge. Then sent it to a plastic welder to have the hole (left once badge is removed) removed and a straight piece of plastic put in (so it looks like the badge was never there! Once that was done, it was sprayed in a high gloss black... The white plastic of the headlights looked tacky after then... So I warmed up the headlights and removed the glass carefully and painted inside of the headlight plastic black as well!!! Looks really good! could get some close up pics if you like :bash: Quote
Johno Posted July 31, 2008 Author Report Posted July 31, 2008 (edited) ^ Yeah, it you could that would be great. Thanks :bash: Edited July 31, 2008 by Johno Quote
RollaBus_4agze Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Hey man... Got a few pics when I was at HCR working on the Rolla Bus: Here is what I did to the headlight (sorry about the crap pic) And the grill... Can hardly even notice that it as modded! I am getting rid of this grill tho as I broke a few of the clips that hold it on :bash: I have another perfect grill which I am going to do the same to :y: Quote
Johno Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 (edited) Looks good, thanks mate. The headlights painted like that would make the car look tougher I reckon. *edit* If you heated up the headlights to take the glass off then how did you re-attach it after it was painted?? 200Boy Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 I think you just heat it up again and shove it back on from what I've read. Quote
RollaBus_4agze Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 I just used good ol' black Sikaflex man! You don't need much... Just a smear in the valley where the glass sits... Leave it over night and it will be sweet :) Quote
Johno Posted August 5, 2008 Author Report Posted August 5, 2008 I Finlay got the TV working in my car! I was bored last night and needed to get out of the house so I went down to safeway and bought a TV antenna. Here's a you tube vid of it working. Don't ask me why it looks the way it does, I don't know why it turned out like it did. Looks fine on my computer but on you tube its warped.. Anyway you get the idea, sorta...lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=op6vJbUOFBA Quote

Johno Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 I (might) be buying a 4age engine.. Not too sure yet. I will be getting my falcon back in the next couple of weeks so I can afford to take the rolla off the road for a while and start the prep work on the body ready for painting and maybe a 4age engine conversion. Gotta do a little more research on the conversion first, Do I need to change engine mounts? Will it fit my gear box? How much of a pain in the ass is it to do? Is it worth it? Vic roads Legal crap? These are all things I need to think about first.. As the car runs now with a stock 4ac it goes pretty good, never driven a 4age before let alone been for a ride in one so gotta see how good they are before I do anything. Cheers, Johno Quote
KE70-from-mt-panorama Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Do I need to change engine mounts? Should all be the same Will it fit my gear box? As far as i know, it should all bolt straight up How much of a pain in the ass is it to do? Bolt out, bolt in just like an ordinary engine change then you need to do the wiring Is it worth it? I Have an ae82 Twincam (Bigport) it drives nice. picks up and goes well. Shits all over my 4ac in my ae71, good power band (4200 - 7000ish RPM) Vic roads Legal crap? If you find the right place that will do it, they will change the engine number over for you. its a 4a motor changing to a 4a motor. 1.6 to 1.6. All thats changing really is an extra cam and fuel injection. I'm going off NSW. Might vary for Vic Hope this helps Jake Quote

Just bought a portable car port/garage today. :jamie: So sick of this melbourne weather, can't do anything because it's too cold, wet or dark. Now I'm out of the wind, rain and i can attach lights inside and spent a bit more time on it after work. Will be good when I am doing the paint job on the car and possibly engine conversion.. ;) Quote
KEhendo Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 with the engine swap you need to find someone that is not familiar with corollas. because as far as they know a 4a is a 4a. i also think there is a clause in the vic roads rwc thing that says it's all ok if it was offered as an option at the time of sale. don't quote me on that one but my tester didn't even blink when i want from a 3k to a 4k. it may also help to have it look standard, so hold off on the itb kit and extractors till after you get the engine number changed.
