Featured Replies

This seems to be a common problem as its happened to a couple of my cars, so I thought I'd do a quick 'how to' while I fixed mine as both were broken...

Step 1.

Use a dremmel to grind back whats left of the broken platic seat.

Step 2.

Sit a suitably sized washer over the hole so that its centred and hold it there.

Step 3.

Glue the washer to the plastic from behind. I'm using hot glue, but sickaflex would probably be better.

Step 4.

Use a black permanent marker to hide the washer as some of it can still be seen with the screw in.

Step 5.

Re-fit to car! :hmm:

Yeah mate, can pretty much just any clue that won't melt the plastic badly - like some superglue will.

Would probably also recommend NOT using hot-glue as mine has already cracked off again. Just about to re-do them with sikaflex. :P

your a champion mate this has been pissing me off for ages in my 30 i think Q-bond would work well it seems to be able to do anything

Yep Q-bond is what your after, not Sikaflex. Unless its for an area that has to be flexible, cause it sets like concrete

Nice thread man, got this problem but looks like it fixed now.

A good glue option could also be araldite, Use the 5 min araldite and it can have a bit of flex but plenty of grip.

My original hot glue (pictured above) ended up cracking away, I ended up re-doing it with 24 hour areldite and never had a problem since.

Good thinking.

I grabbed some from the wreakers a few weeks back, Cause mine are broken too.

Bugger I should have waited and fixed them.

Cheers
