B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 1, 2011 Report Posted February 1, 2011 I wouldn't hesitate to drive mine around Australia. It's already done 670 thousand k's. Quote
JJT036 Posted February 1, 2011 Author Report Posted February 1, 2011 (edited) We've proven that a 4K never dies. The one that came out on Saturday was absolutely stuffed. It was running on 2 Cylinders, it had a Severe Bottom End Knock, Blew heaps of Smoke, Badly Misfiring - and it STILL hasn't given up yet !!! :) I betcha if we chucked it into another Corolla just sitting on the Mounts, and hooked up the Earth and Other Wiring, it'll fire up. They just don't die! :lolcry: Dad's gone through worse situations than what I've just written, and he's got it going no sweat! :lolcry: Josh  Edited February 1, 2011 by ewt Quote
JJT036 Posted March 2, 2011 Author Report Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) No updates thus far yet. Went to the Ballarat Swap Meet on Sat'day and walked out empty handed, Sunburnt and Sore. :( Dad's now selling his VS SS Ute to fund for putting The Smurf back on the Road and use that as his Daily. >> For Sale Link to the Ute << Josh  Edited March 2, 2011 by ewt Quote
JJT036 Posted March 13, 2011 Author Report Posted March 13, 2011 (edited) Hey fellas, It's the Long Weekend for us Victorian's, and usually on Long Weekends, there's always something to do. So we decided to Start the 1st Stage of Painting Ollie. We started Today, Straight after Church, and after going to Autobarn's, Supers**t, and The Reject Shop for some Goodies. Then came home and started work. We started Prepping for Paint. We sanded back that Crappy Yellow Primer / Undercoat, we made Temporary Windows for the Sunroof, Windscreen and the Back Window out of Cardboard, then got out 3 Packets of 3.6x2.7m Drop Sheets, and covered the Dash, the Seats, the Engine Bay and Rad-Support, and used an Old Bed Sheet for the stuff in the Back. Pics: Photo's taken on a Nokia N97 Mini. :) Before the Putty, after Prepping. And... Wolla! Now she's Creamy-Pink. :D The Man responsible for this:  Tomorrow, we're gonna give this Coat of Putty a Light Sand, then put on another Coat, and let that dry to finish off the Weekend. We'll put up Pics from the Camera tomorrow as well. Apologies for the Crap Camera Quality. :) Woz & Josh  Edited March 13, 2011 by ewt Quote
JJT036 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) Woke up this morning, looked at last night's efforts, and got straight to it. We rubbed her back using a Scouring Pad, and Air-Gunned it, Pushed her back into the Garage, and layed the 2nd Coat. Photo's again, taken on a N97 Mini. Couldn't find the Camera. :( Rubbed Back and Air-Gunned. The 2nd Coat. Just waiting for the 2nd Coat to dry, then we'll lay on whatever is left in the Putty Can. :) Woz & Josh  Edited March 14, 2011 by ewt Quote

Good to see that shitty peeling yellow primer all came off without too much hassle. can't wait to see it with the colour layed down! Thanks Ryan. Came off no sweat. Well, when we say "no sweat", we mean it was Piece a Piss. But humidity was an absolute arse yesterday. Josh  Quote
78_7kRolla Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 Great work boys! Humidity was bad enough just sitting there let alone rubbing back a car. Keep going :) Quote
JJT036 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) Great work boys! Humidity was bad enough just sitting there let alone rubbing back a car. Keep going :) Thanks Matt. Edit 3.36pm: Sanded her back and Applied a "Guide Coat" using a Blue and a Red Spray can as a Guide for Sanding so it's ready for Undercoat Primer. Josh  Edited March 14, 2011 by ewt Quote
JJT036 Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 (edited) More work done today. We had the Panelbeater up the road come up and inspect our progress, and told what's needed for this to look pretty good when HE applys the Base and Clear Coat. So we put on a "Guide Coat" as a guide of how far we have to sand her back so she's pretty straight for a First Car. Dad sanded back the Bonnet and Parts of the Roof, while I did all the Fidley stuff, like Sanding the Door Corners, Tailgate Edges, "Windowless" Panel Edges, and the Guard Edges till they were as smooth as a Highly Polished Timber Office Desk. ;) Here are the Photo's of Today's Work, again on a N97 Mini. The Bonnet, and the Guide Coat. The Roof. We WILL be working on Ollie Everyday this week, straight after Dad gets home from Work, and do each bit a day, so then it's ready for the Primer Undercoat. The guy up the road said he'll do it THIS WEEKEND if we finish the Work and Priming by then. If not, then the Next Weekend. Woz & Josh  Edited March 14, 2011 by ewt Quote

That was until dfunkt had a pistion make a break for freedom out of the block about 10kms from home, drove it the rest of the way no problems (aside from the noise). Apparently it was also driven around some more (topping up oil & coolant along the way I imagine) before being sold to a mate for parts. He then drove it about 15mins back to his place without dramas. :o Sorry to be a little off topic but...umm yeah  Glad to see you got more done over the long weekend than I did! keep up the good work man!
