20v_ke35. I don't think it's actually stamped anywhere. Not that I've seen anyway.

You should be able to tell between T50 and T40, one is 4 speed, one is 5 speed :angrybird: Same with K box.

K box looks quite different to T box.

any pic?? what kind of different??? i know that 40=4 speed, 50=5speed, k with kengine, t with t engine...but when the box in the junk yard how u can tell which is which?? :angrybird:

If it's bolted to a K engine (and I'm sure you know what that looks like) chances are it's a K box. Or, jack your car up and look underneath. If it looks like yours, it's a K box.

Basically the box is done apart from serious modifications to the tailhousing to allow for 5 speeds in reverse in case of a spin  we never got ke55 here but i`d say they look like ke30 floorpan at a guess gearlever in the same spot so yeah it`ll bolt in,as for a part number for the bellhousing one day if i have some spare time i might go and look it up... but then again why should i when ive got one already :angrybird:

Because I don't have one! :angrybird:

IF you can find a part number, that would be excellent, otherwise, I'll just have to find another way around the matter... as we all do

hold on a minute.....

i know we got the k40 and k50

but i have seen a k51 from a starlet (what i'm using now)

and a k61 (5 speed)from an EFI starlet....it has evenly spaced gears.

the k61 has a totally different bearing retainer than the k50,51

I think the "T" gearboxes bolt up to 4ag motors. "K" boxes don't.

Besides, "T" boxes are stronger and will bolt straight up to a 4ag motor. It doesn't make sense to change down to a weaker gearbox and spend more money making it fit.

Thats how i understand it anyway. Correct me if i'm wrong guys.

*EDIT* There you go. Jamie just beat me to it.
