I thought this must be Sims old car, nice first car mate.

As philbey said, see Pete. Explain to him that you are interested in old rollas and you

will find him to be really helpful. Best to ring to check if he's in first, as I have found once or twice

he had ducked out elsewhere for a while.

nice to see you're enjoying it kyle, it was a good little car but I'm glad your putting it to good use, was sad seeing it sitting under my carport doing nothing all that time lol.

I'm now corolla-less apart from my ke26 which is continuing very slowly, ive just done a silly thing and built a hefty 308 for my VK so no more corollas for awhile!

Well its been a while since ive posted anything because i havnt had the car.. and i still don't have it but I'm hopeing to have it soon.

The wednesday after i got it, it went into the shop to get raised for the road worthy

and after looking at the car we soon relised it needs more then ball joints and head lining attended to which was stated in the add, ;) (which i was not happy about) but i decided okay ill get the parts for it and just replace it i have no other options and the next task of finding the parts was a HUGE pain but after a bit of a wait and several trips over to Peter Robinson at Oakleigh we finally got the parts we needed...

So the car was put back together the end of last week and actually had the road worthy done on it today, which it didnt pass because it needs a new front windscreen :@ but i have just organised that for tomorrow morning so hopefully it will be all road worthy and ready for rego tomorrow afternoon sometime, which ill then have to book in and wait to get that done :(

So it turns out after all it wasnt the cheap cruiser to run around in that i thought it was going to be.

And now after replaceing

- Front Brake Pads

- L/H Front Rotor

- Wheel Bearings

- All The Front End Bushes (Which Had To Be Custom Made)

- Shockers

- Front Brake Lines

- Front Springs & The Metal Seat For The Spring

- can't Think Of The Other Things.....

- Front Windscreen Tomorrow Morning Hopefully

And spending more and more money it finally seems like it will be soon rego'd and ready to drive which i am very happy about lol after the past few weeks ((((((((((((((((

On a positive note, all that stuff you have replaced will make it a MUCH nicer car to drive. Bit of a bummer to need to spend the dosh, but that is the way it is with old cars.

Yes that is true the car will be heaps better to drive now.. seeing as half the stuff was totally nackerd haha :)

The wait is the worst thing though but will be good when i get it back, nice weather to cruise.

Well even more bad news with the car..

Organised a windscreen to be done first thing this morning thru RACV and then we get a phone call late afternoon from them saying to us that they can't do it anymore because they can't get the glass :)

So now after organising with another place the windscreen will be getting fitted tomorrow afternoon i am hoping!!!!!!!!

:y: :y: :n: :n:

yep totally agree with seabiscuit..... everyone I know thats into classic cars has had a story or two similar to this, but to be honest it will make you appreciate it even more once it's on the road...... and...... it will ensure that you take awesome care of the car because you've had to pump plenty of hard earned into it.

probably sandblasted to hell. If pete did the roadworthy, he's pretty by the book when it comes to the windscreen. Seriously though, my other ride has a shitty windscreen and it's a real bitch, you don't realise how much of a difference it makes until you swap from one to the other regularly.

Fantastic news about the roadworthy. Realistically, I think the stuff you had to do was only to be expected in an old car. I am spending lots of time at the moment sourcing stuff to get and keep mine on the road. And I have been picking up stuff all over the place. Was talking to Peter recently and mentioned I had sourced some new control arm bushes which clearly got his interest. But these came from Japan.....

Very interested to hear how and where you got them custom made. I have this vague idea of taking my new bushes somewhere to enquire about getting some copies made, but not sure what it would cost. Many years ago I got some urethane bushes made on a lathe for a mate who was running and winning (not many in his class dare I say it) the under 1600cc Vic sports sedan championship in a 4AGE powered KE15 running slicks.
