SLO-030 Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 Om nom nom. Cheers man :locked: Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 20, 2009 Author Report Posted December 20, 2009 Little bit of an update, Got my powder coated stuff off Luc. Looks wicked. Pulled apart all the rest of my steering gear. Gonna get the drag link low pressure garnet blasted as not to ruin the tapers, then hopefully get new a new pitman arm, idler arm, inner and outter tie rods along with new adjuster tubes thru Pedders. Also new LCA bushes, Castor rod bushes, Swaybar links and D bushes, steering box isolator and bumpstops, also thru Pedders. Then grab some XT130 struts, get em coated, get springs to suit and chuck em in. Then fit up the RA60 rotors and MX62 calipers and that will be the front end sorted. Will source some short stroke 86 shocks later down the track. Planning on taking the 4K block down to API in early Jan, to get bored and honed along with a deck. After i get it back an ACL rebuild kit will be purchased. Pistons, rings, rods, bearings, crank, Front pulley and flywheel will be taken to API to get assembled and balanced. Also will send the cam off to Crow Cams to be reground. I'm looking at buying a ported 4k head at the moment. so head work will be left untill i know I'm getting it or not. Once the bottom ends installed, i can flip it over and begin building upwards. slot the cam in, line it up, bolt the cover up, water pump, lifters, head, push rods, cooling system etc. In between all that i have to finish the bodywork, wiring the front end, interior and keeping the old man off my back. Gonna be a busy few months but it'll get there :) Began setting up a bit of a workshop setup so everythings a bit more organised and easy to acess Decent Sized work bench, courtesty of work. Starting to Hoard all the chrome i can find for these things And lastly, what do you guys think? Quote

SLO-030 Posted December 29, 2009 Author Report Posted December 29, 2009 Have been sanding today. About to go out again and fill the low spots, there are as many as i thought :y: Picked up a KE70 5spd today, and a 4K should be coming down on the weekend. Stoked!!! My Quote for all the suspension bushes and steering gear was WICKED. Once i get the struts all sorted and powder coated i'll be heading back down to order it all in. As of the 1st of Jan i will be moving sheds, with 2 other Rolla-heads. Bit better lay out, plenty of off ground storage and a sectioned off room. Should be awesome  CHEERS Ryan Quote

SLO-030 Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 Some pics of some progress in the new Piston Broke Automotive workshop Luc at work **Insert whip cracking sound here** Guide coated drivers door 90% there This is what bumping your doors closed causes your handles to do. the black spots are pressure dents from the door handle Trail fitted a thermo I forgot I had, 15" i think Good fit me thinks. Its the biggest that will fit in an un-chopped radiator support. Quote
Sam_Q Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 my god, if that thermo was any bigger you could use it to move your car by itself. Why so large? for me it's amusing you see as I have not run a fan in something like 5 years, but I assume I am in a colder climate. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 I bought the fan about 10months ago and had it sitting here. took it down to the shed as the less car parts in my room the better. Figured id try it for space and it fits perfectly. in the pics its holding itself in!! Quote
JJT036 Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 Just out of curiousity, but what did the Thermo Fan come from, or out of, or you wouldn't have a clue?? Josh :) Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 (edited) Its an aftermarket one Josh. Same ones as you find in Super Cheap Auto and the like. Its a 15" IIRC, usually go for $100+. I bought it off an RC member from QLD. (can't remember his user name off the top of my head) EDIT: Bought it off Terry (Mungi Mods) for $30 :) Will measure it for ya if your interested. JJT036 Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 Oh yep, I sorta have the picture in mind... and for the size of it, I'd say it'd be 14" or 15". Josh :) Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 1, 2010 Author Report Posted January 1, 2010 I bought it as a 12" and when it rocked up i was like :) , But all good as it fits.....just. Gonna Be running it off a Davis Craig thermo switch, which will be running thru a jaycar timer. Quote
