SLO-030 Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) Yea man, off of front bumpers and the holes are in the right positions too. Seeing as most ke30 front bars are pranged up in the middle it seems like a good way to put them to use. Â Messed around with the boot hinges tonight and got them working as they should be. Just had to replace a nylon bush and she's in business. Â Boot lid is back on and being held in position quite nicely for sanding.....again. Â pulled out the front carpet and underlay. Found a lump under the sound deadener in the passenger foot well. Turned out to be an M12 bolt in primer. Looks like it got left there when they layed the deadener >.< Edited November 17, 2009 by SLO-030 Quote
Oh-KE Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 That bumper looks ok, not what I expected though. But still a good effort. Do you think it would polish up after being welded and cut? Maybe you could put a rubber strip or something over where the join is...?  You should respray it the original colour. It's a nice colour. :y:  Anyway, keep at it!  Cheers  Chris Quote

Gonna cut up some 55 end caps into strips where the bolts are to cover the join.  Its not 100% but it'll do till i can find a three-six bumper. Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 21, 2009 Author Report Posted November 21, 2009 Pulled the Fuel tank out last night and wire brushed it ready for Luc to give it a coat of Jotun HD black (same as his T50 is done). Also getting the spare wheel bracket powder coated. Â Thought i could possibly make another fuel tank out of one of the stainless tanks at work. design it so the spare wheel is hidden up in the middle of it so its out of veiw. Kinda like the original but better. Â Started coating all the no visible rust repairs in Ormonoind Brushable bitumen to keep all the rust causing water and crap out of areas that arent perfectly sealed. Will be giving the insides of the doors, both front and rear 1/4's and most likely the inside of the roof as it has both noise and vibration dampening properties. Quote
KETURBO25 Posted November 25, 2009 Report Posted November 25, 2009 I remember taking the fuel tank out of my uncles HQ,  its a pain in the ass dude, its not that its really all that  difficult to do, but its just such a dirty job, was for me anyway!  I ended up with like 20 years of dirt and build up fom the back  of the tank all over me, twas a fooker.  Did yours come out easy enough? SLO-030 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Report Posted November 25, 2009 Yea, pretty easy. 8 M10 bolts, 5 hoses and 1 filler. Â Didnt have alot of crap on top to be honest. Just a shitload of spiders eggs. Â Â Pulled the inspection cover off the diff, everything seems to be in relativly good condition. Has a bit of backlash between the pinion and crownwheel but I'm not too fussed with it. Â Diff Ratio in this is a 4.11:1. Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 25, 2009 Author Report Posted November 25, 2009 Final Ride Height, Â Â Bitumening up that shit. Â Random Pic Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 OK, update. Â The "Final Ride Height" in the above pictures will not be the final ride height. Â After a visit to the local cop shop. I confirmed the lowest legal heights for the KE3x/55 series. Â After removing the diff and placing the 12 Slotters under the guards at lowest legal height I'm hooked. Â I'll run some 14" steelies for the time being and eventually get a full set of 12 slotters made fit right. Â Diff is apart and i'll be replacing the center bearings and wheel bearings. Along with getting the pinion, crown and spider gears professionally checked to make sure I'm not stuck on the side of the road with a fooked diff. Â Also getting a whole bunch of stuff sand blasted as we speak ready for paint or powdercoating. Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 Cheers Aaran. Â For those who are curious, Lowest legal height for all KE3x/55 is 335mm (front) and 320mm (rear). Measurements are taken from the top of the arch to the center of the hub. This info is only relavant in S.A. Quote
KETURBO25 Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 I like your work ethic Ryan, looks like the cars coming along quite well. Ive told you in the past, if you need my help with anything just let me know. :D Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 (edited) Cheers Pete :D Â Pics of the new ride height. Lowest legal height for SA. Going to get some nice stiff spring packs to make sure i don't go too low. Â Â Â Â Â It Mightnt look that low, but the height of the roof directly above the rear tyres is 1330mm (1.33M or 133cm) and the bumper is only half way up my shin :| Edited November 30, 2009 by SLO-030 Quote
JiP Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 hmmm I think your car is begging for some paint! :D Quote
