Just put my new exhaust on. Super quiet except for the squeeking i was talking about... Got impatient and just sprayed the fan belt with WD40, no squeeks whatsoever now :thumbsup:

"Belt Grip". It comes in an aerosol can. Just spray it on the belt and pulley. When it dries, it becomes tacky. We use it on the Drill Presses at work, and it works a treat

ROFL we use it on MASSIVE conveyor belts when we umm bog them down with rock.....

 

and it works very well

i have a similar problem on my ke70 5k but mine happens when i change down gears, it slips as the motor is reving up (changing down gears to stop). i think i can hear it when the motor is reving hard but my exhaust is loud ;).

i have tightened the belt that much that there is almost no deflection in the belt but it still does it.... i was thinking of making up and idler pulley to wrap the belt around the pulley abit more maybe that may help... or if anyone has a idea would be appreciated.

try a new belt and if the pulley got wear in it swap it for a new one

pull your dipstick out while its running and touch it on your belt hehe

it has a new belt il hsve to get a new waterpump pulley.

I have this problem ocassionally and I have 2 solutions,number 1 old school is smear a little butter on the belts,usually stops the squeaking,number 2 is silicon chain lube from a bike shop,aerosol can,just spray it on but it does leave a white residue.

Dry lube or hold a candle against it.

or i can just take it into work and put it in the lathe and emery the pulley to make ruffer..

Pulley wears so much that the belt no longer drives on the flanks of the belt properly, may even be running on the base of the pulley if it's worn bad enough. Roughing it up won't help if the belt has worn the groove down, new pulley will be the only way.

Should be able to see the polish marks in the bottom of the pulley if it isn't running in the wedge properly.

Took the pulkey off abd took it into work and spun it the lathe and machined it so it has fresh v and made up a idlrr pulkey to mount off ths alternator braxket tk bring the belt.round ths pulley abit more to give more surface contact on the water pump pulleye
