KETURBO25 Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 So what is the worst engine you can remember either owning or seeing? I meen, there a few lemons out there, so lets hear it. Mabye it was unreliable? or mabye it was just slow? I'm gonna kick this off by listing the 'Starfire engine'. They were found in early model Commodores, Coronas and verious other vehicles, I just bought a corona with a Starfire engine (more like a startfire!). Its by far the slowest smokiest peice of dog shit ive ever driven, and it has a timing chain rattle that would give off the impression that its had a hand full of washers dropped down each bore. Absolute rubbish! :jamie: Quote
JiP Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Anything by Mitsubishi in the 80's. I wonder how they survived? Their whole fleet were rubbish. Also the Holden Camira. The only Aussie build FWD Holden and it was a Lemon. You still see them around tho. Quote
7shades Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 GM 3800 Opel/Daewoo family II series (all of them) Nissan RB25 Nissan ZD series diesel oh and everything made by Mitsubishi, with the exception of the 4G63B. Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) Whatever the engine was in the TC Pulsar...... Only engine I've ever come across I could blow up inside of 3 days of what I call normal use....... Oh, and whatever the heavy piece of junk boat anchor was that blew up in the Triton...... Never before then had I seen 6 shattered rocker arms in one engine....... Rebuild, pop, rebuild, pop, rebuild, sell...... *edit* I'd like to point out that at no point have I ever owned or considered owning a Triton, they are too much like a car to drive, lack ground clearance, and apparently explode at the very thought of work..... KETURBO25 Posted November 27, 2009 Author Report Posted November 27, 2009 Umm... who made/makes the Triton... :jamie: Lol, Mitsubishi...pretty much the creator of everything that is rubbish. Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 While a fair enough statement in and of itself, this was a mid-nineties Triton and it was nothing but a lemon right from the go...... Since then I've avoided the three diamonds like the plague...... Quote

Taz_Rx Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Yeah shades said mitsi's evo engines are ok. But how much development would have gone into those. Speaking of '80 mitsi engines - That what these new Great Wall utes have in them!!! 1984 Magna motors!! :jamie: Quote

That would be the Opel family II :jamie: For such a diabolically unreliable engine, they sure did shove it in a lot of cars. I was burned by the first Mitsubishi I ever encountered (with the fanTASTIC Astron II engine no less) and in the decades since I've given them countless chances to redeem themselves, but no. Every single one has been garbage. Quote
7shades Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 HUUUUUHHHHHHHH????? They're rubbish. Stock = slow and unrefined. Modified = Thrashy, noisy, and unreliable. The RB20 is an infinitely better engine. Quote

Astron derivative, originally sold by Mitsubishi to Proton, and now to Great Wall. So not only was it a tragic engine to begin with, but now the Malaysians have fiddled with it, and now the Chinese have found a way to produce it with undoubtedly substandard quality. Quote

Yes but this is the "WORST ENGINE EVER" thread. It may not meet your exacting standards but it isn't hopeless trash. I suspect you're just trolling anyway. Quote
