Can someone shed some light on this car please.. i have been looking but can't find any info really on it, not this exact model but this shape in general ..

 

my friends dad has one that is in a really bad state but look how rad they are!!!

I know a guy with three of these, and another guy who had one as a Group G rally car. Good bit of kit, quick and reasonably agile. Rare in Aus as they never came here as such. AFAIK most that are here came from NZ or were personal imports. Most parts that are availbe seem to come from NZ, where there is to my knowledge a fairly active club and parts system.

 

Don't hold your breath if you want to buy one. Rare is not the word for them, and they do rust badly. Diabolically hard to find a good one.

Japan only, which often means some end up in NZ

 

4G32 powered but with a twin cam head. Only two valve per cylinder like a 2TG, hemi head and twin side drafts I think. 5 speed and maybe LSD as well? I couldn't be sure. Ultra rare. I'd pillage the drive train and put it in something a little less (but still quite) rare like this guy:

Whats cooler.....the grill on the ra28 looks so much better, never really liked celica's but the ra28 is nice car

Celica also does not have a badge consisting of 3 diamonds, thus is less likely to be a stupendously unreliable bucket of shit.

Reliability aside, I'd go for a GTO any day over a RA28 (unless it was a genuine GT, but even then I've seen way too many RA28s so the style is getting old/boring)

I think he was asking for info about the car, not everyone's opinions.

 

And the twin cam was only in the GTO-MR apparently. Either way, you'd be up for a hell of a lot to restore it given it's rarity. I'm not sure how worth while it would be.

there's a red one in real bad shape getting around Adelaide, saw it early 2009 at the fringe festival :dance:
