Medicine_Man
As of today, the springs have been cleaned up and undercoated (cause i'm too cheap a bastard to pay for springs) and will soon be treated to a new colour. Left Spring = Cleaned Spring, Right spring = Before Cleaned. This is what they looked like after they were undercoated. Also on saturday I picked up the front strut bar bushes. ( $30 )
demuire
Umm, I might be wrong, but most paint isn't designed to flex very much (even acrylics) so wouldn't the paint on the springs just flake and crack and stuff after awhile? Medicine_Man
We'll see what happens, it can't look any worse than what they were, i'm painting the springs with orange enamel, hopefully it will set very hard..
Ruts
errrr I think fook is right and very hard paint will just crack even more - certainly if it is thick enough it will chip and flake.
demuire
Enamel would be even worse I would think. I know I painted one of my fuel filter brackets with black enamel (even with etch primer) and when I bent it to fit the fuel filter it just cracked and flaked... I think that's why they powdercoat springs instead of just painting them...
Medicine_Man
Only one way to find out I suppose, they say you learn from your mistakes, anyway, the swaybar has been painted this morning so far..

Medicine_Man
Ok, got the brake shields painted, and got the stock springs painted... Only thing I didn't get done today was the suspension units, but I think I'll paint them after I get the strut inserts back into them so I don't scratch them..
