finally got it all assembled

ready to give rebuilt motor a run in

havent got charger on at moment plan on giving motor1-2 hours run in nateraly asperated to help bed rings etc

now i just need msd 6btm (tomorrow i hope) extractors startermotor plugs and leads

finally got it all back together charger msd eletric diz are all on

gave it a run in the paddock

goes great bit slow of the line hope its the timing or flat spot in carby

but ive done a head gasket i think hope like hell its not a cracked head

go to town tomorrow for extractors,head gasket and a few small fittings

gee i hope i havent done a head

on the up side the msd unit is good highly recomended

f@$k i got a zap from it

the motor sounds crisp

can't wait for sunday 16 may

not long to go now

A new head gasket shouldnt fail that quick. Have you got a temp guage hooked up? Seen your videos but don't remember. Was it run in and on boost at the time? Love your work mate. Also, how was the engine worn in? How was it driven? Cheers.

Blowing a gasket that quick isn't all that suprising..... it means you're not pulling enough timing out of it on boost. The HG is always the first thing to fail. Makke sure you have no more than about 25-30* of timing while on boost. Or start on 20 and slowly increase it.

 

Oh and the head gasket doesn't have holes in the FRONT of it to try and promote water flow through the back of the head. Otherwise the water would take the path of less resistance and just loop around the front of the motor between the water pump and thermostat housing. :yes:
