I came across a movie on the LynxCorp website. Its a product test on the Splitfire range, where they do several dyno test's on a Gen 3 VX Commie.

Watch to see the results. I find the results a bit surprising and still don't know whether to believe it or not.

One thing to note is that the car already has an upgraded engine management system and Exhaust.

they're in the catalog as an AU falcon plug, easy to find

but they only sell them in sets of six!

 

from memory, there's also a long reach corolla plug (like for 4A-FC AE92 or some shit) but it's got the smaller size fastening nut on it

Very interesting. I actually have 3k plugs in my 3k head that sits on my 5k. I thought i was doing the right thing. Ohh well, time for new AU Falcon plugs.

Do these plugs come in varying heat ranges and if so, what do people use in their 5K's?

I assume they come in the NGK brand?

a guy i know in town has a VY SS sedan with the splitfire filter/lead/plug kit, and he reckoned it made a difference. my best mate put a k&n panel filter on his VU SS ute and he also said it made a difference. dunno about daniel in his sedan, but nick's a good enough driver to know when there's more power at the wheels, i would trust his judgement

 

overall that's an 11% gain on the stock figure. pity the boxed set's over 400 bucks and you need an exhaust and an ls1edit to make the best of it

Thanks for the tip. The first trap i fell into was ordering 9mm ignition leads from a lite-ace. The coil lead is actually 150mm short. You just have to make a special note when you order them, if you plan to use these leads on your Rolla.

ironically, my custom set of corolla leads could have done with the coil lead being about that much shorter, we should have swapped :jamie:

as long as you don't mind a blue lead to go with your red ones :jamie:

I'm a big NGK fan.

 

Ive got NGK Iriway 8's (iridium racing plugs) for my SR20 but I'm yet to see how they perform. I can't find alot of info on them but from what I can gather they are quite a cool plug and made for high boost applications. Cheapest Ive found them (they came with the engine...which is a full rebuild) so far is $170/set :jamie:

 

good thing you don't have to replace them very often...

NGK's in the 55, Bosch in the Falcon. can't really tell at this stage. gonna chuck NGK's in my Falcon though when i service it.
