SLW42 Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 I will push the limits of a stock 5k for ya and tell you how long it lasts on 12pound of boostfed goodness, then up to 16 and by then i will have gone up to a bigger turbo than the t28bb :D Quote
ninja-philbo Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 ive bin lookin into gettin the toyo glide built. Quote
MRMOPARMAN Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 As for the auto - Has nobody else thought about looking into getting an auto from a KR42R townace!? you read my mind. i printed off a parts list for the bellhousing today, however i left it at work :no2: they use an a42?? so I'm guessing its a modified version of the AE71 box? will do some more research tomorrow Quote
7FOUR7 Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 please do tell what your findings are! Phil keto what information have you found? Can they be built to handle??? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Also, has anyone pushed the limits of stock rods yet? Just wondering if it would be worth getting the spool rods for the 5k or not? What are the advantages of a 4k head on the 5k? And how hard is it to come by an efi setup for one I've ran 22psi on stock rods. The spool would be a good idea if you can afford them though. 4k head on a 5k = low comp motor. Not hard to find 7ke (like mine) from a KR42R townace if you look in the right spots. Do a ring around of some commercial wreckers who deal in vans and trucks. You can buy EFI setups, I think they were off the 7K and some 5K's??? I'd rather stay as low tech as possible  As above, 7ke from KR42R. There's also 4ke stuff but its overpriced and not real great. No 5k came out with stock EFI. I will push the limits of a stock 5k for ya and tell you how long it lasts on 12pound of boostfed goodness, then up to 16 and by then i will have gone up to a bigger turbo than the t28bb :D Why? A BB T28 is pretty much ideal for a 5k. You won't want to go much bigger, and being ball bearing you can run over 20psi with no dramas. Quote
SLW42 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Well 12psi to start with then up to 16 then on to 20 odd then :) Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 The trimatics the box to use, plenty of interchangeable parts between all models. They will handle more power than any k will make. And 12psi is for pussies! :P mind you I will only run about that, if I was going turbo I would run far more. Like I said, stu (kickn5k) will be running in the region of 30psi... Or as much as he can get in before it starts making to much heat. Split bores anyone? :D The van box sounds promising, is it an overdrive box? Let us know what you find Cam. JP Quote
7FOUR7 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 do you mean the 'baby' trimatic from the corollas or the actual holden trimatic? Quote
SLW42 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 It's a the starting level once i get bored of that it'll be upped severely haha, the aim of mine is run faster than a stock manual e series xr6 falcon Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 It's a the starting level once i get bored of that it'll be upped severely haha, the aim of mine is run faster than a stock manual e series xr6 falcon Funny you should say that. Last trip out to the drags Yoy-yoda was driving a mates older XR6. He managed a mid-highist 16 IIRC. I was running low 15's that trip but have ran in the 14's. Quote
SLW42 Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 Well i want my 70 to beat my next falcon, so then i don't have to have a slow weekend car hahahaha Quote
ninja-philbo Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 well aparently the converters from toyoglides are sweet and can be modded quite abit. i have to drop a box in so he can pull it apart and work out where to start but he thinks its gonna be piss easy. I'm just goin shift kitted and fully manualised if i can trans brake for shits and giggles. Quote
7FOUR7 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 f@$kyeah please let me know how you go as I'm very keen! Also would be going full manual. Had a transbraked 3spd in my 320rwkw vl and damn it was fun Quote
7FOUR7 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Also who is doing it and what is the price estimate? Quote
