Trev Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 10 years ago when I was working at GCCC (gold coast car sound) we had one of the demo mini's on the shop floor and the car was basically made with hidden wiring, the car had central locking but the doors had no wiring running to them, I have been looking for the contacts that were run on the door so I can fit them to my car and I finally found them on Jaycar earlier today. http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=LE8779&keywords=door&form=KEYWORD I recommend these to anyone that wants to put speakers or a 2 wire central locking kit in their car as they really do tidy it up, the only problem you have is that they only work when the door is closed. I am pretty sure that you guys can work out how they install, if not then I can tell you how. Quote
jono1986 Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 I'm looking at using these when I put the speakers in my doors, I wonder if you can get mulitple contact ones i.e. instead of just two contacts have like 4 or 6. Cause my drivers door operates with a 4 wire solenoid. Quote
greenmac80 Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 i remember seeing em in a holdens magazine.. great idea but it does kinda suck about the doors having to be shut... jst imagine.... those contacts to charge and some soort of wireless connection thingo... meh jst pissed ramblings.. ke70dave Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 I'm not sure they will be the best for speakers though. may cause problems with bad connections etc, going over bumps the contacts will move around. in theory it should work fine, but it woulndnt surprise me if they caused troubles later in life when the contacts got a bit dirty. and yeah who wants to only be able to have speakers working with doors shut? when I'm working on my car i open both front doors and have the radio goin (i have splits in my front doors) cool idea for central locking though, cept as jono said you would need 4 contacts for the drivers door master solenoid. They are spring loaded so they 'shouldn't' move and lose connection....hopefully. Will see how the go, most likely have to clean them off ever few weeks. Yeah that is why I said it would be good for a 2 wire, all I can find is a 5 wire master, my vh commodore had a 2 wire master but that was factory. You could always just use these as the contacts for the rear doors central locking and have wiring in the front. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Just a though, if you wanted to use these say for a show car and have the doors open at a show then just make yourself up some little blocks that can slide into the door jam and re-connect the contacts. Would also be handy for keeping the door open on a windy day at a car show. :hmm: Quote
7shades Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Vans have these on the rear sliding doors as well... Some have up to 6 contacts Quote
