irokin Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 hey just wondering, was your weber off a 2L cortina engine? I'm thinking i might put a weber on my 5K but arnt entirely sure which one He was using a 34ADM off a 4.1L Ford inline 6. Hes now using a 32ADFA off a 1967 FIAT Spyder. 2L cortina webers are 32/36DGAV also, how come you spent all that money on a 5K when you could have put a 4age in which gives 130Hp with no work done to it?? they are capable of much more power than a 5k. It probably still worked out cheaper. He would have had to blue plate it, change all the engine mounts, modify the tail shaft, probably a different diff. Far easier to stay with an engine similar to what the car came with. Its more unique too. (and fun to drive....its an experience instead of a boring old 4A-GE that doesnt give you any shit) Quote
Felix Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 nah i pulled that particular weber 32ADFA off of a fiat 131 1600s at the wreckers. 1975-81 i think. ben, the carby you are thinking of from the 60's fiat 1500 sypder is a weber 28/36 DCD. the DCDs also came on ford mk1 1500 gt cortinas. sweet carbs, have used one on various engines. i'd sorta steer clear of the 32/36 DGVs from the 2L escort cortinas. they can be made to work, but will always be soggier in the low range than a slight smaller weber. if you can find a 32/32 DGV go for it, currently have one on my warm 4k and it runs really sweet. they have smaller venturis in the carb and this makes them far more responsive on the primary throat than a normal 32/36. irokin Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 well there ya go! lol. It was just what I had found searching. If I ever find another one Id buy it instantly! Quote
demuire Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 (and fun to drive....its an experience instead of a boring old 4A-GE that doesnt give you any shit) Hey, my 4AGE is fun :P Quote
irokin Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 But it isnt an experience is it? if you get what I mean. You don't have to coax it know how hard to push at certain rpm. I dunno if I'm making sense. Sure a 4A-GE is fun...but it doesnt have the same character Quote
Teddy Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 But it isnt an experience is it? if you get what I mean. You don't have to coax it know how hard to push at certain rpm. I dunno if I'm making sense. Sure a 4A-GE is fun...but it doesnt have the same character i know exactly what you mean Ben, 4age's are fun, but worked k motors are a thrill :P Quote
demuire Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 Hmm... I don't know if I agree with you or not... I much prefer my 4AGE over my 4K, and I recon a worked 4AGE would absolutely kickass. Not saying that a 4K is any less fun, but I wouldn't say that a 4AGE is "boring"... Quote
Teddy Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 yea - hell yea - put it this way. 4age's are fun. when i was in urs, it was fun. Feckin fun. Being in a worked k motor is a thrill, its amazing to see how much power you can get outa 1 of those things. Both motors do have there different charatistics.... ...*give me a T motor any day tho :P *.... Quote
Xany Posted September 9, 2004 Author Report Posted September 9, 2004 hmmm....its nice to see that everyone can apreicate a nice engine when they see one..... so far though......mainly cause my stupid driving and thinking that i wont break anything...... worked 5k = 1 x snapped clean in two orginal KE55 diff...(3 teeth on each cog left) and as of tonight. 1 x fuxxord 5 speed KE55 gearbox.... i don't think my orginal 4k would have that list. my stupidity driving....stops now...... time to put it in grandad mode. Quote
irokin Posted September 9, 2004 Report Posted September 9, 2004 I'll vouch for the diff...its fubared bigtime!! Quote
kp60_nz Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 hey, i have managed to blow a diff with my 5K, and it hasnt even had any work done to it!!! Quote
irokin Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 probably happend because of stress fractures that developed over time. I bet you couldnt go out tomorrow and break another one.... Quote
Felix Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 really depends on how hard they are treated. i broke 4 diffs and 4 k40s behind a near standard import 4k in my old ke30. that car got majorly abused. rev and dumps, and axle tramp are killers. Quote
Teddy Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 lol - thats an impressive kill list ! Quote
