brisbane to rocky, sleep in the back

and then rocky to townsville, I'm thinking ill do the short trip first.

because if it f@$ks up it will cost less to get towed back. haha or illl just take the plates off and walk away.

You'll be fine. My theory is your not going to the moon, just down the road. So on your trip, they have these things called shops. If you need something, you can buy it.

I'd pack:

Points

One front wheel bearing (pre greased for convenience)

Length of heater hose

Water container (empty is fine)

duct tape

zip ties

Length of wire

handfull of random nuts/bolts

test light/fuses

and the most important thing.......tools

Because if you haven't got the tools, you can know what's wrong, you can't fix it!

Some of my trips have been

Melbourne - Sunshine Coast, twice, in a Datsun 1600

Melbourne - Darwin, Troop carrier

Melbourne - Melbourne Anti clockwise around Australia Troop carrier

Countless trips Melbourne to Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra, Hobart in

HD Holden panelvan, N13 Pulsar, MX32 Cressida, Sigma.

I love a road trip

haha thanks for the tips guys, i would feel a lot more confident if:

1- i knew what a wheel bearing was.

and 2: if i knew how to change it.

haha but nah I'm not worried at all, its my dad thats putting doubts in my head, things like "you wont make it. don't sleep in the back, you'll get murdered." and "just fly up" arent helping to much :)

haha just edited out 345623567 spelling mistakes.

Now I'm worried.

Don't worry about the murder thing. Just sleep where all the truckies do.

Get RACQ total care. They'll tow you home from anywhere. (well RACV do). Best 160 buck insurance you'll ever spend!

i did canberra to qld and back in my old ke36 with no spare and no tools and also no sound system and a 95db exhaust. in 2 days. drove there straight, slept the night drove back home straight. and a heap of canberra to wodonga and back in the same car. and then swapped it for my falcon and drove it from way to coonabarabran where slw42 then drove it to brisbane.

all this in a car that once broke down in macca's drive though on me and wouldn't start again untill several hours later lol.

After doing a big drive in an old car, 1000k doesn't seem like much.

take tools! Fan belts and radiator hoses are good to keep in an old car even for short drives.

I find it good to think of the distance as "three times to melbourne and back" or something like that. Pace yourself.
