SLW42 Posted November 30, 2010 Author Report Posted November 30, 2010 Agreed flat black should be left to drfit pigs but THIS is a statement saying 'flat black looks good on anything if done right' Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 I still disagree that it looks good on the Rolls. Most likely this is due to a crappy/small photo and/or lighting, but the shape just doesn't lend itself well to a flat finish (it's too slabby, for a start....coincidence that KE70s are rather slabby too?). The Maser, 911 and the Veyron work well because they have smooth flowing lines to break up the lighting and avoid that flat slab look. The Lambo gets away with it because even though it isn't smooth, it has lots of angles to break it up (the whole "stealth fighter" look that the Reventon went with, for instance), but you can still see some slabiness in the sides and the bonnet which doesn't work well. (that i have seen) is this one. purely based on the fact that it looks VERY tough. it doesnt look good, it looks tough. there is a difference. Quote

And besides, there hasn't been an Aston posted in this thread, methinks you're getting confused with the Maserati Gransport And besides, that S15 is more of a satin than a matte black, which is perfectly fine in my books (plus it has the shape to carry it off) Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 http://www.nagtroc.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=22992&st=20 Matt GT-R Skyline. Shopped I'm sure but still. Its all a matter of taste, and if your car has a splash of chrome, ohhhh. But I'll prob go satin next time, its just darker and cleaner looking with a matt feel still. ATM though its easy to touch up some panel work. Quote
Trev Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 no i was refering to this: (ok i can't spell, and i scrolled to quickly, but it was worth a try!) At 1st glance I thought the Maserati was an Aston aswell. Quote
ratiara Posted November 30, 2010 Report Posted November 30, 2010 I think that you may find that alot of the Matte Black's etc. on the high end cars are vinyl wraps. Excellent results can be achieved....and when you get sick of it...off it comes and you have pristine paint underneath. About $4-6 grand for an average car. ;) Quote
