Istartfires Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 Not keen on a $2000 service lol Quote
Trev Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 The fact that any repairs would cost more for a stagea or legnum is a bit of a worry, and another is servicing because a commonwhore or fawlcon would be alot cheaper I would imagine. I have thought a bout a forester but ain't really looked at them yet. If it was me, I would buy a 5th gen Lancer or zze12* Corolla wagon and put a nice set of wheels on it and lower it. Lancer Corolla Quote
Mason. Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 yeah those lancer wagons look really nice when done right. A kid from maccas up the road owns a black one with tinted windows, lowered and balck rims. you might have seen it around ipswich trev Quote

towe001 Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 If it was me, I would buy a 5th gen Lancer or zze12* Corolla wagon and put a nice set of wheels on it and lower it. Lancer Corolla Out of those two i'd go the lancer in the VR-X with the sports-auto (can drive like an old man one day and drive like a hot headed tool the next) not the ES, you don't get the LS in the wagon. But go for the '08 and up, the programming on the fly-by-wire on the earlier models was a bit "dickie". It'd take a second or two from putting your foot down in moving off from the lights etc to the computer registering it and opening the throttle. The corolla is bland to say the least. I think, from memory, the corolla is a touch smaller as well. You only get a choice of either a 5 speed manual or 4 speed auto (no sports auto) and '06 was the last of the corolla wagons. We're thinking of the next car a subaru liberty or the outback in wagon forms or the forester. But we've had passing thoughts on the mazda 6. Something to remember - the size of the pram is going to dictate the size of the boot. Quote
Istartfires Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 We have a ch lancer sedan at the moment so a manual wagon would be exactly the same almost. We have a few ideas now so I guess we will just look and see what comes up. Quote
daggers57 Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 My wife drives a 2009 Mazda 6, plenty of room enough power to tow a 'medium' trailer. My mate has a 2000ish Forrester GT, goes like stink but a VERY small boot, no room for the pram! Carsales has 2005 Mazda 6 for around 12 grand with 6 airbags ABS etc. Quote
jaygore Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 I used to have a legnum mate and I loved it, great cars and i plan on buying another one, they are safe, and enough power as well. you really cannot go wrong with one. Stageas are just ugly! check out ozvr4.com you will be able to get plenty of info on legnums Quote
Budowski Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 So have you decided on a car yet ? :) Quote
Istartfires Posted January 6, 2011 Author Report Posted January 6, 2011 Nah not yet been too busy, just started work again and have a two week old kid plus other commitments. I hate too say it in a way but think we will get a vy/z due to maintenance costs even though I am unsure of service costs for a stagea which would be the first preference. I did get a promotion at work but won't see any financial gain for a bit so not sure if we should risk it :( Quote

Stageas are just ugly! check out ozvr4.com you will be able to get plenty of info on legnums I personally love legnums but the miss doesn't. Plus I have heard good and bad things about them where as stageas I only hear good, and as I mentioned I have no idea about the service costs and plus insurance too. If I had more $ I would go a legnum but I'm told a stgea may be the cheaper and more reliable option. Although I don't plan on modding it and it will only get a flogging when I'm in it alone. Quote
