carbonboy Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 (edited) That it is, drum brakes are better for drift yo... P.S - Up yours... :P Good game, better Sydney won it than Collingwood or Geelong :) Edited September 30, 2012 by carbonboy Quote
azza91 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 i agree. was a bloody nailbiter though! Quote
carbonboy Posted September 30, 2012 Author Report Posted September 30, 2012 I guess it would've been for me if I'd watched the whole thing. Only watched it when it started raining/hailing on me while I was trying to get the brakes back together. Despite being a Hawthorn supporter, cars get priority. :) In other news, I received an undersized crank pulley for a BP 4AGE from TRD ke70. Planning to put it on during the swapover, so things like my water pump & alternator don't crack the $h1ts entirely during my planned trackdays. After cruising the For Sale threads though, I'm half tempted to buy a KE70 with all the parts out there! Just sorting out postage & there'll be some more shiny bits on their way. *insert suspense here* Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 > buys ke70 > forgets 82 sadface.jpg The way it should be, RWD fo' life, yo. Quote
carbonboy Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 If anything, the KE70 would be a trailer only motorkhana/khanacross car, 5K powered seems a nice setup. :) An AE82 versus an AE86/AE71 with similar power to weight ratios would be an interesting battle as far as lap-times go. While at the 6hr at Winton, there was a Team GAD member driving both an '82 & a '70 that were 4AGE BP powered. Once he adjusted to driving a FWD, the '82 was slightly quicker. Having said that, the head-gasket in the '70 cracked the sads before anything conclusive could be reached. Good food for thought though. It's also been happy times gathering parts, being at Winton gave me a good kick in the arse to get out there in my own car rather than riding shotgun in the safety car. Received a set of MRP adjustable coil-overs in the mail & waiting on AusPost to bring me a set of drive-shafts for an E-series gearbox. Also dislodged some spiders & started sanding the front end of the shell. Oh yeah, miss this. Quote
TOMsGPTurbo Posted October 25, 2012 Report Posted October 25, 2012 I'm nevious of your progress, I reckon you'll win the rego race lol :P Quote
Subaru_kid Posted October 27, 2012 Report Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) Nice!!! what rates did you go with on the coils? Should throw them in blue thing and slam it right down for lols  Also I'm keen to race someone in a 4AGE KE70/AE86 around winton... ;) Edited October 27, 2012 by Subaru_kid Quote
kickn5k Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 Also I'm keen to race someone in a 4AGE KE70/AE86 around winton... ;) What about a sev with a small amount of boost? 😂. If you want I can leave the front swaybar out of it and leave the street tyres on it. May give you both a small chance!!! Quote
carbonboy Posted October 28, 2012 Author Report Posted October 28, 2012 progress is progress dude :) That it is, I also got the drivers-side bailey channel sanded up & primed. Had been putting off that job for a while! On another note, laws regarding roll-cages have changed a lot here in Victoria recently, all 6-point weld-in cages must be engineered now, regardless of Club Rego or not. So, the plan now is for a 6-point bolt-in, have had conversations with a couple of cage builders & my reservations about them have been put to rest. I'm envious of your progress, I reckon you'll win the rego race lol :P Don't be, I keep giving myself deadlines to have the paint done by & keep failing to meet them miserably! It's the first time the tarpaulin's been lifted off it in months! :D Nice!!! what rates did you go with on the coils? Should throw them in blue thing and slam it right down for lols  Also I'm keen to race someone in a 4AGE KE70/AE86 around winton... ;) I went the usual setup, 6kg fronts & 4kg rears with the sports valving. Ordering 10kg/8kg springs as well, just to be able to experiment & find what I'm happy with. Not sure BT's worthy of these, when I get tempted to throw them in, that's when I know I need to hurry up! I have other suspension for her once I acquire a set of hubs, might save some cash by not getting a KE70 & make BT the motorkhana car. ;) What about a sev with a small amount of boost? 😂. If you want I can leave the front swaybar out of it and leave the street tyres on it. May give you both a small chance!!! Take the turbocharger out & I might have a chance! I just want to scare MX-5's. :P Quote
kickn5k Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 Take the turbocharger out & I might have a chance! I just want to scare MX-5's. :P Now where is the fun in that. I though running it with no front swaybar, street rubber and waste gate spring pressure would be enough of a handicap. Quote
Subaru_kid Posted October 28, 2012 Report Posted October 28, 2012 (edited) Youll find the 10/8's heaps better around corners if the valving is anything like mine. If its like my mates AE92 MRP coils then 8/6 combo will be tops! Ill take you for a spin in mine one day to see what the suspension is like now that its all sorted :) Cmon Luke, aim higher!! You should be tagging along with me yapping on the tails of S15s and Chasers! What about a sev with a small amount of boost? 😂. If you want I can leave the front swaybar out of it and leave the street tyres on it. May give you both a small chance!!! I'd take that on. On a technical track like winton, with a setup like that youll need to drive the s**t out of it... would be a fun (and hairy) drive thats for sure!! :D Edited October 28, 2012 by Subaru_kid Quote
