Yeah my su's are awesome. They get a nice throaty sound when you give it a bit and i still get betwenn 8 and 9 litres per 100km driving. Also if you have too much time on your hands you can pull them apart and polish all the aluminium. Although they are quite crap on cold starts. You need plenty of choke and the motor usually runs like shit till some heat gets into it.

no, that's a k engine thing, they all are like that under ideal tune. comes from the design of the 30-odd yearold piston-bore clearances i think. run a really rich idle and it goes away, but you use more fuel

I agree whole heartedly. Mine were a pain to start on cold mornings during winter. I cranked my car over for at least 30 seconds one frosty morning trying to get it to kick over, because i didnt have a choke hooked up.

Once I hooked a choke up, they started like a dream. Then the choke cable snapped and I havent been bothered to hook another one up because its not so cold of a morning now.

Putting side drafts on mine was the best thing. It starts first go now with 2 pumps, evey time, who cares what temp it is. Its got no choke.

i wouldnt change it for the world ;)

The problem with SU's, is that they don't have a jet that squirts fuel. Thats my only real gripe that i have with them..............for ease of starting that is.
