so I've bought myself a liteace running a 4k motor. I'm decking it out like a camper atm (a small camper) and taking it on a trip. i want to be able to charge my laptop, and possibly some other small appliances, so i thought id get an inverter to run off the 12v system. what i need to know is, will the little 4k alternator put out enough juice for this? if not, do i upgrade the alternator and to what? or do i run duel batteries? thankyou

a chunky alternator will only help you out when you have the engine running though.

 

look into dual battery setups, so you can have your "house" battery seperate to your "starting" battery. but you can charge them with the new chunky alternator.

 

that way you can drain the house battery all you want, but then still have the starting battery to get you going in the morning.

 

look at camping/4wd websites for tips on this, there are some funky systems you can buy to manage all this.

nah my dad had one of these. Column shift I believe. goes alright actually. from memory it went better than the ke70! Prolly more friendly gear ratios.

Theres a great dual battefy kit on ebay. Brand is projecta and for the 150 amp kit is around $190 but in the shops your looking at around $300 for the same kit. Then just brought a deep cycle 105 amp hour battery. This is for my hilux btw.

Projecta is cheap shit, That is why I recommended the smartstart..

Thats the only way to do it properly if you want to be able to start the camper on a cold/freezing morning.

thanks alot for your help fellas! yea it is the colum shift 4spd. goes alot better than my stanza and my ke30, lite and small as buggery, really cheap on juice too. ive only put $10 bucks in it so far and done a fair amount of driving. should be groovin :)
