Gday guys. I am a short while away from putting my 150A tighe ground cam into my 4k, hopefully getting my dellorto or the 32/36 tuned to suit. Flywheel has been lightened alot, and compression will be raised a little, after i work out the dynamic CR. Anyway, is it possible for people to put up their 'before and after cam' experiences, and i would really love to see a dyno, or a running/driving video for comparance. I have searched and searched, but can not find a before and after. The 150A is a pretty cranky wild cam, with 292* advertised duration, and .474" lift  (which i have double springs to suit) blah blah. I'd love to hear your experiences guys, and ideally id love to see a dyno comparison or running/driving vids, and what cam you have used. Thanks guys, Luke.

Hey mate, I reckon there's probably an existing thread with the same discussion, it's floating around somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

in the meantime, big cams are wicked, when setup right with carbs and extractors and tuned the kick in the guts from a cam is amazing, and when you're pulling 7000rpm the sound furious.

Cheers philbey, i had a bit of a look but couldnt find anything. A link would be great. Anyone else with fist hand experience? This is my first K engine, I'm a K virgin

well i had a 3k that was running 31hp at the wheels

swapped it out for a 4k we rebuilt cammed, lightened flywheel, increased comp, carb etc. havnt had it dyno'd but id say its making at least twice the power... can't find the cam specs though but it was like 270 duration 4.1 lift. revs to like 6k and blows excels off the line :laff:

Here is a vid of my cammed 5k in action. From memory it was a Wade 169. It was running 3k-b carbies. The test wasnt the best to let it have its head, in others it would have the shift light lit up all the way. This was set at 7500rpm.

My link

Again no dyno sheet but going from a std 3k to the cammed 5k (still on a single carby then) was worth a couple of seconds a lap on the autocross circuit.

My link 2

The white KE20 in the above video had a reground cam of unknown specs. An ex who we built it for asked for a power band from 4000 rm up. This is what she got. It would come in STRONG at 3600. Enough that it would easily turn you around if you were cornering on dirt and hit 3600rpm.

Thanks guys. The 150A is a pretty cranky grind, I'm very curious to see how it will run with the dellorto, and upped compression. It already has a very light flywheel, extractors etc, i just hope all these ingredients bake a sweet, reliable brappin cake

I'm keen to see what this cam is like once you have the car tuned i was considering 150A for my 4k build but after speaking to the guys at tighe i will be going with something broader rpm range

Cam is in, been run in, and double springs are in. Currently breathing through the stock carby. And um, I'm not sure how to describe it. Almost nothing down low, even taking off on level ground. But god it loves to rev!! Gain power at about 3K, and at 3.5-4K it starts pulling like a 14 year old until 6-7K. The stock carby struggles after 6000ish, and I'm sure the weber or dellorto will feed it enough fuel in the higher rpm. Ideally i should have had the head shaved for compression while doing this, but it was a bit of a rush. I have before and after videos, and will possibly put them up on youtube soon. I don't think i will stick with the 150A for long, it just wont be practical for city driving, its an animal with this cam. It has a cranky lumpy idle (not in the video, but sounds like a rotary) Fkn brap brap!!!!. I do not recommend a grind like this for street/daily use. Its suited to rally/race. I will put a link up to a video shortly. Cheers, Luke.

i have a 240 duration @ 50 thou cam in my 4k. i felt a BIG flat spot till 3 grand then the cam kicked in, at that time i was running 8 degrees of timing.

now running 22+ and no flat spot and pulls like a school boy.

i think its the same as a tighe 150A.

is it to big to be in a daily? f@$k no! cam kicks in at 2750. rev it till 4 and change gears and youll still be in your cam range in the next gear.

2nd gear is 95kph, 3rd is 120ish 4th is off the speedo :P

go hard or go home
