sharpshane Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 Today I took an offramp a little fast for the rain and locked the brakes into a skid causing me to fly over the mediun(center divider like sidewalk size) and smashed my oil pan pretty good. :bash: I think I damaged the oil pump and will have to pull off the pan to take a look. Any one expierence something similiar or tips on pulling this thing off? I know I'll have to raise the engine out a few to get to it. Tricks and tips appreciated! :sob: Quote
Figjam14 Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 undo the engine mounts and gearbox crossmember and jack them both up as high at you can? my need to undo your exahust to Quote
ke70dave Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 i think for the interest of the forum, we need some pics:P i wouldn't drive it until you check it out though, you might have damaged the oil pick up pipe. engines don't like running with no oil. Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 Dave, I can't help reading every post of yours in king Julian's voice... makes it so much more fun  Back to the matter at hand, I've only ever taken the sump of with the engine out of the car so I'm no help to you. I think it will be rather tricky without an engine crane but Tyler's idea might work... Quote
Chillin Posted November 13, 2011 Report Posted November 13, 2011 If the impact caused that much damage to your sump, what happened to your front end suspension and steering components? Just a thought if you want have a once over of that too or get a new wheel aliment to help stop this thing occurring again. As stated before, go for the engine crane idea with everything unbolted. Get the car as high (safely) as you can as it will help you in the long run. Best of luck Quote
sharpshane Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 I was fortunate enough to borrow a guys lift at his shop. Unbolted the mounts, and raised engine, pan out easy as spam! I went to take the pan off and heard some parts rattling in there, not good, I thought. Turns out I snapped the oil pump in half. :bash: I will be installing the new one today and hopefully all is well. Pix will be attatched tonight. The suspension is ok I think, drivers side strut bar bracket got smashed so ill try to pick one up from the junk yard. I just pulled those off and painted them too and put all new bushings in! :sob: Thanks everybody!~ Quote
altezzaclub Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Don't forget a wheel alignment before you get back into it! Quote
sharpshane Posted December 2, 2011 Author Report Posted December 2, 2011 here is the carnage snapped the oil pump and rod in half. Looked at my shifter today and found that i must have slammed the trans into the floor cause my shifter mount is all bent. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted December 2, 2011 Report Posted December 2, 2011 Awesome. As everyone has said id have a good look at all your front suspension :blinks: Quote

Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 Heh, I've done similar damage to my sump before on a massive rock, never bothered to pull the sump off to check anything though. :laff: Yours is an awesome effort BTW Quote
