wagn Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 go to a place that makes fiber glass boats and they will usually sell you what you need as long as its not large amounts of materials or maybe search for a company called fiberglass international ? i think that is where my old work used to get materials from Quote
Grand Master of Awesome Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 So just bought a 1m x 100m roll of fibre-glass fabric. Going to start making my panels for my Mr2 and whatever fabric I have left, I will be making ke70 Madhouse lip copys. Madhouse lips are patented so i doubt you'll get away with making and selling those Quote
Spencer[RL] Posted January 11, 2012 Author Report Posted January 11, 2012 oh didnt know that, my bad. I can't even fibreglass a straight panel so don't think its going to happen anyway :laff: , will edit my previous statement Quote
Grand Master of Awesome Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 Well I'm fairly sure they are, i know Dave bought the moulds from Gilly and knowing Dave i doubt he'd let people get away with copying them. Haha Quote
ke70dave Posted January 11, 2012 Report Posted January 11, 2012 i love your fibreglass work mate, great to see someone having a go. ive made a few moulds what i did last time, that worked pretty good, was covered the thing i was trying to mould with a heap load of masking tape. perhaps 3 or 4 layers, admitedly i was using a fairly small mould (a boot of a car actually, fullisik subwoofer). still hard to seperate though... also I'm not sure how you are applying it, but when i did mine, i used the crosshatch ply stuff (randomly place fibres), layed down the matt, and then applied the resin with a paint brush (cheap throw away). as the resin is applied it starts to melt the glass fibres, and i was able to get quite intricate with the mould by pushing the glass and resin into the corners. nothing too crazy, but certianly got some pretty sharp corners in my glass 'box'.
