vltrb-0 Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 Hi there, i'm needing to put a differential in the rear of an SV21 camry, now i'm trying to organise a factory diff to fit under the car my preferences are: easy access to replacements affordable prices (no more than a few hundred) i have measured the diff to be around 1530mm (disc face to disc face) the style of diff that comes to mind to suit my project is vn (i think it may be a little too wide haven't had the chance to measure one) i am very open to options anyone has to offer as i know a lot of the guys and girls on here a fairly creative Thanks in advance Quote

Or why not get a tercel or 4wd corolla rear end its about that wide. ahhh awesome this is the stuff I'm talking about, i plan to use the car as a track pig/skidder and was thinking the live axle would be easier to set up. i'm not familiar with the gt4 stuff have you got a link i can read up on the car about? i think tercel gear would be a bit hard to source but i'm considering the 4wd corolla rear end as a good idea (seen lots in the wrecker the other week). Why not an old cressida? Which is very similar to what you are doing, except it's all done already from factory and you can spend your time installing off the shelf parts to car that will actually improve a much better car into something even better? Heres some info anyway... http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tech-conversions/65909-sv21-camry-engine-conversion-possibilitys.html http://www.performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?67220633-SR20-4G63-3SGE-into-Sv21-camry bold words there are key, i have the driveline sorted all except for the diff although it doesn't make any sense at the moment and i completely understand how retarded this project sounds, all I'm after is a little direction with regards to the differential options the aim of my entire build here is: budget street driven easily replaceable parts (both sources and cost) camry is $300 max the mods to suit the new drive line are a once off and the fabrication side of things is done in house so it doesn't cost a lot (really only my time) the reason i was leaning towards a vn diff is because they are worth about $50, easy to source, easy to repair and as it turns out appear to be 10mm wider each side than a standard camry rear (nearly perfect) i just wanted to get some ideas before i committed to it because i know a lot of random Toyota stuff is interchangeable which does save a lot of trouble Quote

In 1988, an all-wheel drive system dubbed All-Trac was introduced and a 2.5-liter 118 kW (158 hp) (JIS) V6 engine were added as options for the first time. The V6 was fuel-injected with 24 valves, and dual overhead camshafts, much like the upgraded 96 kilowatts (129 hp) JIS four-cylinder engine.
