Jono.C Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 I'm not sure if that'll be enough! That's not a bad price at all though Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 0.5mm is 40 thou.... Which should be heaps. You've got ring marks in the bores? Maybe you should just call me!.... As I also have another 5k bottom end I could sell, but unsure of condition. Quote
Jono.C Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 Yeah ring marks, plus what look to be some decent piston slap marks in one of the cylinders as well Quote
Jono.C Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 If you let me know a good time I'll shoot you through a call if you don't mind? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Make it around 7ish, should be in the shed dropping 5k in by then. At work at the mo. Quote
Jono.C Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 No worries at all, cheers Quote
Jono.C Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 Here's how the bores look. Photo's are a tad sketchy but i wasn't looking to win awards. Majority of the marks are pitted not just visual Quote
ninja-philbo Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Just get her honed out and chuck some bew slugs in it. you won't regret having a nice fresh motor Quote
Jono.C Posted September 12, 2012 Author Report Posted September 12, 2012 Too deep to hone. Would either slap or blow smoke. Oversize looks like the best option Quote
Jono.C Posted September 14, 2012 Author Report Posted September 14, 2012 Took these photos for AltezzaClub and Snot35 Carbs are Keihin VE series with a cable choke that will look to work well with a corolla setup Just a standard K inlet manifold (4k-c) bigport wouldn't work as the runners are too close. Basically sawn off and ported out.. Inlet #1 and #4 line up pretty well but 2 and 3 are a little off. This will be easily fixed when i run the llonger hose to the carbs (4" or so) It'll all pull in nicely no worries, or i'll heat them up and tweak them slightly. But when the bike carbs will be sitting about 4" out then there'll bve no issue's at all. Also it's not true that you want the bike carbs on an angle, not with these anyway.. As it can trigger the overflow and the fuel will pour out the bottom.. Right where your altenator is. So potentially it could end unpleasantly. 1 Quote
snot35 Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 (edited) Nice, I like your idea of using the manifold. How big are they bore wise? P.S. 0.5mm is 20 thou Edited September 14, 2012 by snot35 Quote
Jono.C Posted September 14, 2012 Author Report Posted September 14, 2012 The bore on what sorry? The carbs? Quote
Jono.C Posted September 15, 2012 Author Report Posted September 15, 2012 Rack and pinion front end pretty much finished! Quote
