B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 So I decided to pull finger and totally rewire the stereo system. I wanted to keep the HU in the glove box but it needed some sort of decent mount. A few minutes on the jigsaw and I had this mocked up. Test fit Contact adhesive-d the carpet down and mounted an ACC switch as I CBF figuring out where to get one from the car, I'm not even sure if they have ACC. The ciggie lighter is constant so I guessed not. And I got the 4 channel wired up but not secured. Will finish it all off tomorrow. Hopefully I can mount my gauges tomorrow as well, will see how it goes with Miss 4 at home and Miss 0 not wanting to sleep. Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 [/size] I can see some flat batteries coming up. But it looks very tidy, can you still fit things in the glovebox? Since Ive had it the stereo has had the constant and ACC hooked up to the same power wire (unfused as well :/) so I'm pretty used to turning the HU off or popping the face off (havent left it on, yet) . And nah, I wont be able to put stuff in there, there wasnt much room before. I'm thinking of mounting some sort of under dash tray like in KE70s. Most of my crap ends up on the passenger seat or footwell anyway. Quote
mdw003 Posted May 2, 2013 Report Posted May 2, 2013 (edited) I had a shed session yesterday, mounted one of these under my seat. http://www.fusionele...ctive-Subwoofer basically looks exactly the same as your amp. it doesn't hit quite like a full size sub but it fills out the sound with out putting any stress on the other speakers. Only went with it to have somewhat of a stealth install... ill see how long I last before the bug bites and I put a full setup in there. Have a look on the back of your fuse block, there should be 3 spade terminals. 1 of those should have ACC running from it. Looks good so far mate, keep it up. Cheers Edited May 2, 2013 by mdw003 Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 2, 2013 Author Report Posted May 2, 2013 Eventually I want to recess the rear 6x9's so they are hidden, both amps will be tucked away under the seats, sub hidden in the suitcase and HU in the glovebox. Kinda pissed I mounted the 6" in the doors, but I may be able to recess them too and make them more stealth with something like these covering them. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 3, 2013 Author Report Posted May 3, 2013 (edited) Phew, got most of my wiring done today. HU installed, with some velcro on the remote so it doesnt go AWOL again. Amps tucked away under the seats and all the wiring hidden under the seat mounts, I ran a single large + wire and split it in the cabin so I ran a fuse before the split. Gauges Ended up like wiring a full dash. All the power to the gauges is running off the switched power to the stereo. Worked first pop, love that shit. Mounted Everything done, a few little bits to touch up tomorrow in the light of day, namely hooking the gauges lights to the headlights so they arent on constantly. Might even have a toggle switch for them also if they get annoying at night. Edited May 3, 2013 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 3, 2013 Author Report Posted May 3, 2013 Looking very tidy! Chur bro! I spent so damn long doing everything right. I love how my new job has made me really anal about this stuff. (amps secured with zip ties aside) I was iffy about the gauges but the temp gauge has already proved my dash one is rooted, plus the tacho is good, so why not three? :P Quote
towe001 Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 Looking very very cool :jamie: I think about the only other gauge i'd fit would be oil pressure Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 3, 2013 Author Report Posted May 3, 2013 I think about the only other gauge i'd fit would be oil pressure I considered that over Volts but with the stereo system I thought Volts might be better. Quote
towe001 Posted May 3, 2013 Report Posted May 3, 2013 I'd put the oil pressure where the tacho is and move the tacho on to the steering column or somewhere up a bit higher. That "glance" to look at the rev counter down where it is might turn in to a look to see what the revs are will mean less time looking at the road. Thats my theory as to why i'd have it up higher. A good tip i learnt is with the other gauges, say the temp gauge, turn the gauge around so the needle points straight up when its at operating temp. It'll take a glance to know if somethings wrong cause the needle will be off centre. Quote
