supra2 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Report Share Posted October 25, 2013 Hi Mika, Yep, still have to fully seal it up. A flame and liquid proof barrier is what the regs require. And it will be. Silly thing is, there is no requirement to seal the inside of the C pillar. If the car is rolled onto its roof and there is a fuel leak, it runs up the inside the C pillar and ends up pooling on the roof under your head, not good if your trapped. I always like to seal the C pillar as well with expander foam. It wont stop fuel for long but it does slow it down and it stops the general fuel and exhaust fumes that seem to get into striped out race cars. Boosted Posted October 27, 2013 Report Share Posted October 27, 2013 20/20 Hindsight and all, but would have been neater to apply the sika between the sheets before riveting them together. If you had access to one, a bead roller would have given a bit more form to the firewall and stopped it from vibrating as much.
