Its hard to find good people who give a s--t these days.

I had to get my metal shrinking skills out of moth balls to fix this one.

Managed to get most of it out, still a bit more to go.

Off to Orange for a rally this weekend so hit it with some primer to stop it rusting and will worry about it next.

  • 5 weeks later...

Thanks Guys. The build will continue very soon.

The motor in the group b celica has done 5 years of hard rally and started to push oil out of the catch can at the last Orange Rally.

Iam in the process of building a new improved version 3tgte for the upcoming events in August and the WRC in September.

I should be back on the ke30 in the next few weeks.

Its so close now to getting caged, painted and reassembled.

Hi Phil.

There is a link to the build thread for the celica on page 1 of this thread.

I have the homoligation papers here for the ta64 rally celica, and Iam building this new motor as close as poss to the specs of the real 4tgte rally engine.

There is all so some in car footage on utube of this car under, Group B Celica @.

Not much to report on the ke30 yet. Still getting the new motor for Celica finished.

Its taking longer than expected.

Ive borrowed the throttle bodys I bought for the Corolla for a new intake on the Celica. But its a lot more involved to fabricate than I thought it would be.

Once the Celica is running again, It will be full on to get the Corolla finished to start next years rally season.

Check out the 4 plug 3tgte turbo tappet cover on the 2tg head.

Your doing an awesome job, I bought a 2 door ke30 about 6 months ago to build it into a track car so I can set up my ke20 soley for the dirt, my 30 has no rust and only a few light dints. I have a 3sgte and a 5 speed supra box for it plus a ke70 steering rack, I had intentions of putting a 4 link with a commodore axel, i had considered irs but i threw it in the too hard basket but after seeing this it inspired me and last Wednesday an ra65 rear end was delivered to my door step, yours will be a very good guide for me, can't wait to see it finished.

Cheers Justin

Thanks Justin.

A 3sgte will really make it go.

The main reason Ive fitted IRS is because it can work better than a live axle on gravel rallies.

An adjustable 4 link live axle can give more traction and better grip if your using the car for track work, The corollas are so light, they will be fast anyway.

Its all so hard to get a good lsd for the f series diff unless you intend to lock it up and the A arm irs suffers from extream camber gain if this lowered.

Thats a bad thing.

The RA65 rear is quite narrow. Ive used the x member from a soarer or cressida. Its 50mm wider track and the A arms and diff are the same. Just need the longer drive shafts.

Sorry if this has made you rethink things.

Interested to hear your ideas.

Cheers Craig.
